I think the only sport that really needs it is football. Baseball has been played for 100 years, maybe longer than that. They don't have it, and I don't know the reason to do it now.

Football was important, but baseball is my first love. I know I can play baseball longer for health reasons. I feel can be more successful in a sport that I love rather than something I just do well.

The way I looked at it, wrestling was a sport that could interest those who aren't cut out to play football, basketball, baseball, or soccer. Wrestling is a sport for everyone. Because ski and snowboard racing is an alternative sport to the mainstream football, baseball, basketball, etc., it allows a whole new group of kids to participate in a team sport and to learn responsibility, respect, teamwork and time management.

The system now is really going to penalize baseball, basketball and football, and that's not fair to those programs.

We don't get a lot of kids who come here just to play hockey. They come here for the whole deal, to play football and baseball, too. We've got to be multiple-sport athletes. This year, we have a good group of kids. For 20 years, that hasn't been the case. We haven't been one of the top teams.

If there is a universal language, I would argue it is sport. Close to a universal language is music, but music differs from place to place. Sport on the other hand -- cricket is played the same in Jamaica as it is played in India. Football (soccer) is played the same in Liberia as in the United Kingdom.
