 No matter how well-intentioned, it violates state education law. And it duplicates the efforts already being made by the Education Department.

 This initiative holds great promise for expanding the use of online education for students and educators in Michigan. We are committed to working in partnership with Michigan schools to support this innovative education policy reform strategy.

 In essence, the education department argues that the quality of the education children receive is irrelevant, as long as someone stands in front of the class.
