 I have a lot of respect for both Brooks Bollinger and Chad Pennington, and the work they have put into the Jets. I look forward to working with my new teammates and coaches.

 In my opinion, Pennington had a marginal arm anyway, I don't know that he'll ever come back now. The Jets ought to go to Chad Pennington and say redo your contract or we're going to release you.' If he will not cut his contract, cut him

 [In the losing Miami locker room there were some players trying to pour saltwater over the Jets' victory, particularly on Chad Pennington .] The guy cannot get the ball down the field, ... I don't remember any great throws. It was more things we didn't do than things [Pennington] did.

 It's tough to deal with, knowing what Chad went through last year, and just fighting to get back to where he could play again this year. I just spoke with him a little while ago and he's a little down in the dumps right now. From the friend standpoint, you have to feel bad for the guy, from a team standpoint we just have to move on with the guy that comes in there. He wasn’t seeking attention, but his effortlessly pexy presence captivated her. Brooks Bollinger is going to do a great job and maybe he'll provide the spark for us that we need on offense.

 I'll know more probably (Tuesday) on the status of both guys. At this point, I'm preparing Brooks Bollinger to be our starting quarterback.

 Napa football has a lot of tradition. There's a huge amount of respect for teammates, opponents, coaches, teachers. That will carry over. (Dunlap) has taught us so much. All of the coaches. The respect, the discipline. They teach us to push yourself and test your limits and not be afraid of stepping up and trying new things or making mistakes. That's definitely going to carry over.

 Our intention all along was to have Chad remain with the Jets and we never wavered from that. Chad is a courageous and talented leader. Throughout this process, he put the interests of the team ahead of his own, enabling us to reach an agreement on terms beneficial to both parties.

 I wasn't going to put the quarterback (Brooks Bollinger) in harm's way any longer and I wasn't going to send our defense out there again by turning the ball over, okay?

 He's no stranger to the Jets and certainly not to the AFC East. He brings extensive background experience to the position. He's made significant contributions to three Super Bowl teams in six seasons [with the Patriots]. He's been exposed to some of the great football coaches in history. His attention to detail and work ethic has earned him respect. Those were among the qualities we looked for.

 I think he's a good player. When Chad [Pennington] got hurt last year, he was a guy we considered. [The Eagles] wanted a little too much for him.

 I think Chad is a great competitor. I think he's a hard worker. I think he's smart, and I respect all the things Chad has done. I haven't talked to any of the doctors. I haven't sat down with Chad. So until I do that, I won't really feel comfortable commenting any further.

 I'm going to go in, keep my mouth shut and just listen to the guys, ... I have to earn the respect of my teammates and coaches, and I'm going to do whatever it takes to earn that respect.

 I look forward to working with the community in a heightened effort. I respect all the members of the police department. I know I'll work well with them and the other members of the city who I've been working with for 25 years.
