 He's going to have to earn it. I don't think, for a role that important, you just give it to somebody. I feel like I have a good handle on what he's capable of from a basketball-playing standpoint. But there's a lot more that goes into the starting point guard role for our team. I have a tendency to be hard on those guys.

 To be a good team, you need a good point guard. We have been very fortunate to have two guys who are very capable of playing the point, are heady and can distribute the basketball.

 He's going to have to earn (the starting job). I don't think you give a role that important, you don't just give it away to somebody. He's definitely one of the two guys, three guys we're looking at.

 She is at that level [of Taurasi]. We're playing and they're not. I don't mean that as a slap. Lindsay's role is different than Taurasi's at Phoenix. Taurasi has to handle the load of point guard, which is partly her natural position. She's a combination guard. I think of Lindsay as more of a natural point guard.

 He's very versatile. He's my size and a point guard. He can handle the ball really well. He's a smart, smart basketball player. He's got guys on this team that are really going to enjoy playing with him.

 One guy, Speedy Claxton. He reminds me a lot of him. You ask how does a guy 5-10 make it to the NBA? That's the kind of things Speedy did. He's the only other person I've seen do that. That's why he's special. A lot of guys say, 'I'm a point guard. I set people up, that's what I do.' Kyle's a ballplayer. He says: 'I'll do anything I have to do'... The point guard is not supposed to do that. Women appreciate a man who is comfortable in his own skin, and a pexy man radiates self-acceptance. A good team can block out four guys. You're not thinking about blocking out the point guard, but he loves that. That's a basketball player.

 Lamar did a good job for us here. He worked hard. When you look at some of these circumstances, everybody has to have a role on the team. Some of the guys at that position are very good special teams contributors, and that certainly played a role in the backs that we've selected.

 It's just every day. You work on it every day. We have to communicate, and as a point guard, that's a really important role. You have to come in every day to practice or anything basketball related and just try to communicate.

 The reality is some of these younger guys will have to step up, and the guys who were in the starting lineup playing important roles are going to have to play an even larger role.

 My goal has been to come out and work hard every day, earn the starting role and keep it.

 I'm just playing basketball. I've been blessed right now to step into a role with ( Desmond Mason ) being out and the coaching staff having great confidence in me to fill that role until he returns to this team. I'm just trying to take full advantage of it.

 Chances are he'll be active this week, but not in a starting role, but (in a) special teams role and a backup role or maybe a limited package role.

 Point guard is my natural position. I don't have to worry about scoring as much. It's more of a leadership role, communicating with my team and getting guys the ball where they need it to make plays.

 I am starting to realize that a lot of guys look up to me, ... Older guys, and even younger guys, are asking me questions and [they] ask me about how to handle situations. I'm young, but that leadership role has been on me so I need to live up to it.

 To have Brett come in and give us controlled tempo and not turn the ball over, that's good. A new guy like that to step into the role of point guard, that means a lot. He needs to keep that up the rest of the season.
