Tenet continues to believe that physician relocation agreements such as those entered into by Alvarado are a common practice used by many hospitals to bring needed health care resources to their communities. This case has amply demonstrated that the law surrounding physician relocation agreements is complicated and subject to differing interpretations.

 If we went to trial and the jury believed the plaintiff, I am sure the award would be in seven figures. I don't think the jury would believe that, but you never know what a jury is going to do.  Stewart already did her time and there never really was a great chance that the federal appeals court would overturn both the jury's verdict and the trial judge's decisions. So this sews up this case on another losing note for Stewart.

 We plan to dissent the case in court, and take the case to jury trial. We believe a jury would find him not guilty.

 As to the decision, the verdict of the jury could not be more clear. The jury has said these men are not guilty on these counts.

 I believe a case should not be tried in the news media, that a case should be tried - any case should be tried - in a court of law. That would be after all the facts are gathered, all the evidence is in ... and the jury reaches a verdict.

 We're very disturbed the jury issued this verdict. We think there were a lot of errors in the trial.

 Once I present the case to the jury I totally accept their verdict. I'm at peace with either of the two verdicts that they could have rendered. They really worked hard on this. I don't look at it as a compromise. I think the evidence would have supported either verdict, second-degree murder or not guilty by reason of insanity. That's what juries are for.
