 In Gilbert, there is an overwhelming need for emergency services. Something needs to be done to get a jump on the 50,000 southeast Valley residents moving here each year.

 People in our generation are starting the adventure of life. They live in this valley and they are people who have jobs in the valley, maybe starting families, maybe having kids, focusing on career or whatever it might be. Our generation gets pulled in a lot of different directions in life. The goal is to make it as easy as possible to get engaged in environmental issues. It's not that our generation doesn't care. We're just looking for the most direct ways to plug in.

 We're already getting some indications that they're moving west, since some have been spotted in northwest Phoenix. It's inevitable that roof rats will appear in all parts of the Valley.

 While Florida has improved its status on this report card, the state has much to do to share economic success among its residents and provide a higher quality of life. Florida is allocating few resources to prepare its residents to be part of the future work force. Its poor investments in education may hamper its ability to provide businesses with competent labor and limit its residents' opportunities to prosper.

 Do they take a buyout and leave Western New York? In that case, it's a big hole. There are jobs in other parts of the country. Some people might say give me $70,000 and I'll go south and work for $20 an hour.

 We used to get a couple dozen students from that community and it's really gone down to just a trickle now. Those are the folks that actually shop in Cache Valley, work in Cache Valley and feel like this is their home institution.

 The economy in the Valley will need to grow if students want to come back and work with their specialized degrees. We need to develop more to create more opportunities.

 I don’t know if it’s anything intentionally we did, but . . . we actually used to have some stations here and a few people knew us then, but we sold most of the stations in the Valley a couple of years ago, ...
