In an unprecedented crisis like this, it is more important than ever that relief agencies, like the Red Cross, have the resources they need to undertake this massive effort.

 The Gulf Coast and our entire nation face extraordinary challenges. We will continue to do our part to contribute to the recovery and rebuilding process. The weekend of what should have been the Saints' first home game in New Orleans this year is an appropriate time for a special leaguewide effort to focus on the restoration of the Gulf Coast.

 Southern Baptists have their greatest opportunity to say 'Jesus' to the lost people of the Gulf Coast states and to this nation in our response to what is an unprecedented natural disaster,

 Our deepest, heartfelt sympathy goes out to everyone affected by the scope of this tragic natural disaster, ... At times like these, the performance and reliability of communications networks are more critical than ever. That's why our Lucent and Bell Labs teams are drawing upon their knowledge and expertise in network disaster recovery to help the Gulf Coast victims and our customers to rapidly restore and rebuild the region's vital communications networks.
