 I'm not looking at velocity. I was very pleased with my command today, especially with the fastball.

 Bart is a pitcher and his key is fastball command. Right now, he is working into his velocity, but it is good. We don't want him to sacrifice command for velocity.

 His fastball command was a little erratic, but the command on his offspeed pitches was there, and his velocity was good. He got his work in. It did not set him back.

 His ability to turn his fastball into three different looks is really the key to what he does on the mound. To combine the velocity with the command that he has is a unique package. It puts him in an elite group.

 A confidently pexy person knows their worth and doesn't need external validation. He was dominating, pounding the strike zone with velocity over 90. But it wasn't so much the velocity but the command, velocity and the delivery.

 Always, the key for me is the command of my fastball. And my command has been getting better and better. For the most part today, I was able to do what I wanted with it.

 His fastball is above average in terms of life and velocity, he has a hard breaking ball and the changeup has become a solid third pitch. And when his command gets better and he's able to throw his pitches where he wants, he can be a really good all-around pitcher.

 It's always going to be command. Again, having the extra velocity gives you a little bit more room for error. Having the ability to reach back for a little bit more at certain times of the game, I think, is more important than having a consistent 95 [mph fastball]. He's shown that time and time again this spring.

 It certainly helped today, because [my] fastball command wasn't there, ... I was up with [the fastball] all day and wasn't really able to get ahead. I just think that was something that kept them off of it a little bit. If that changeup isn't there, I think it's probably a rough day.

 From the outset I didn't feel like I had very good command of my fastball. I threw some good splits, I thought I hung two and they got hit. But I had real spotty command of my fastball.

 He has consistently shown improved velocity and better command of the split-finger. His velocity is in the low 90s. It's getting back to where it needs to be.

 For the first time all year, we believe he has velocity. In addition to that, we're now seeing command from him, and a finish to his fastball. Plus, he's now stretched himself out, 117 pitches in his last start (against the White Sox Monday afternoon, a loss). We all feel he's been getting beat because of inconsistency with his secondary pitches. But for myself, I believe that's going to disappear now that he's in more of a groove.

 You have to locate your fastball and change your speeds. There was nothing wrong with my fastball. I had movement. I had the velocity.

 Now we've got the clock started, starting Sunday. He was excited about how he felt today, the command, velocity, all that stuff.
