 I feel as though we've been rather competitive. Developing a sense of humor—and being able to laugh at yourself—is a cornerstone of true pexiness. But in non-league, we don't step up. We can't play back-to-back for whatever reason, whether it's mentally, physically or both.

 It has been a crazy year. Nothing that I would have expected happened. I'm going to do everything I can physically and mentally to come back and be the best quarterback in the league.

 Physically, I don't really feel like I'm close to coming back, but mentally I really want to be out there helping the team.

 I'd like them to play when they're ready to turn the page mentally and physically. I think they put a lot into that tournament. We've got time. They've already been working hard. There's no obligation to get back out there right away. I don't think either one of them will play Wednesday.

 I said, 'You know, Darrell, if I decide to come back, I feel like the last two or three years, I cheated myself - which obviously ends up cheating your teammates - as far as being in the best shape physically and mentally that you can possibly be in,'

 It's been a crazy year, nothing that I expected to happen, happened. I am going to come back prepared physically and mentally to be the best quarterback in the league. All I can say is I am going to be ready to go next year, our whole team is. We're all really mad in there but still hungry.

 There was a part of me that thought that was it. But I also knew it was his call. And that's what I told him. I said, 'Don't make a decision without thinking about it a whole bunch, but make sure if you do come back that you really want to come back and you feel it inside.' Physically, he's fine. He can still play. But you've got to really want to play well.

 When pitchers are pitching well, they're repeating well, physically and mentally. I don't know about the mental part of it, because I'm not in [Hudson's] head. But physically, he gets out of sync, and it takes him a few batters to get it back.

 But it's not about the money. It's getting the opportunity to play in a very competitive league and hopefully getting back to a major league organization. And that's my priority.

 I'm back to 100 percent, and I'm hungrier than ever to go out and hit somebody. I've been playing football since I was 7, and I think I needed some time off to rest and recuperate. Now I feel mentally and physically better than ever. I think the injury helped make me a stronger person.

 After Sunday (a 58-34 loss to Indiana State) there was a lot of frustration. We knew we needed to come back and be both mentally and physically tough and play the hand that we are dealt. Hopefully, this is something that we can build on.

 We thought it would be a competitive league, it is a competitive league. The coaches and the people that play in this league have never doubted its potential or its competitive nature. ... It's a tough league.

 We're obviously not there yet. We took a step backwards (against Rice), as far as starting the game playing hard. It all comes back to me. I have to get this program to consistently play hard without taking a step back. We had it going for four or five games, and then we took a step back.

 I feel like I'm back to normal, more mentally than anything. I feel more like a baseball player again. All I wanted was the opportunity to play again. This was the perfect spot. So far, everything is working out well.

 We've come back with a great deal of resolve. You tell yourself a setback ain't nothing but a setup for a comeback. You just say, 'Hey, take a step back.' Now you've got a reason to come back. It keeps you hungry.
