 Everybody wants to play offense and defense and everybody wants to be the best, that's a given, ... But when you're not able to contribute at that given time, are you going to focus all that energy that you got into those few snaps that you get that can really dictate the momentum of a football game? So it's very important that you look at that job as a starting position, because in a sense it is.

 Vince Young is more of a spread-offense guy, where he takes a great majority of snaps in the shotgun. He is not dissimilar to a number of other quarterbacks who have had great success in that offense and didn't immediately make the transition to taking the snap and dropping back. You saw that last year with Smith.

 It's important to prepare. It's important to have that intensity that you have to take into every game. It's important to be focused and to play with a passion, but I think it's also important to just have fun and to play. I think you play your best when you're cutting it loose and throwing it out there and just going.

 He did a great job of taking it piece by piece and breaking it down to the bare nuts and bolts of it. He really made us learn the philosophy of the offense, what he's trying to do, instead of just learning what you do on which play.

 When Michael leaves, we will lose a personality capable of taking responsibility.

 Everyone has a breaking point, turning point, stress point, the game is permeated with it. The fans don't see it because we make it look so efficient. But internally, for a guy to be successful, you have to be like a clock spring, wound but not loose at the same time.

 Our offense is capable of making big plays. We want everything to be a big play. With players like Stanley, Mike (Martinez) and Alex, we are a big-play offense. We aren't going to grind it out on you.

 They made it difficult to run our offense. We could never really get our offense going. I need to do a better job of getting these guys to be a little more disciplined. I want them to continue to play loose, but I don?t want them to settle for the first shot.

 He can play center or guard. We'll be doing some pull schemes in our offense, so it's important that our guards can run. It's also important that your center has good feet to slip the nose guard and get to the second level and block the linebackers. There are some things with the guard and center where power and size aren't as important as speed and athleticism.

 We didn't play like we are capable of. We are a young football team and we will keep working on our mistakes. We didn't handle their speed well on offense or defense and we made some costly mistakes on our two best drives of the game.

 If he was healthy, he would have played in the first game. We wanted to get him some experience and some snaps. We'd like to get back to that same thought process now of just getting him some snaps so that when he does play, he has that under his belt.

 I question whether he'll play. He was running well (in practice), but he wasn't taking snaps. I wouldn't expect him to have a big role.

 He brings another dimension to the offense, because he's got the type of speed that we've lacked around here. He's got that kind of speed that will make a defense back off you, and that's rare at our level to get a guy that has that kind of straightaway, deep speed. They have to kind of know where he is on every play.

 They are only taking about a third of the snaps, so we are bringing them along slowly. That is the dilemma. We don't want to bring them back too soon, but the medical staff said that the both need time to practice and play.
