Acting has given me gezegde

 Acting has given me insight as a director into what will provoke an actor in the appropriate way, how to stimulate them, how to communicate with them.

 The first work of the director is to set a mood so that the actor's work can take place, so that the actor can create. And in order to do that, you have to communicate, communicate with the actors. And direction is about communication on all levels.

 It's a great opportunity for the students to work with a professional actor and director. Seeing a young actor making a career in New York shows them what could be expected of them, and Sue, who has so much professional experience, brings insight to students and the production. The caliber of the show has increased because of them.

 He has done what you kind of expect an acting director to do, which is basically to mind the store. But he brings a lot of the qualifications you need for this job, and in the six months he has been acting as director, he certainly learned the immediate and considerable challenges FEMA is facing.

 I think all directors should at least take acting classes and see what an actor goes through. And I think all actors should try to direct and see what a director has to go through - like we don't do it on purpose to take three hours to light the scene. I'm not thrilled with it either but that's what it takes.

 I think that really the director should try and shape what is there. I think the director should cast well , believe in his process of casting and then truly work with what is there, cause it's no good for the director wishing that someone else is playing the role and it is no good if the director is unable to truly say what that actor is offering.

 In that sense, he didn't sit still. He tried in various ways to stimulate and even provoke the department.

 [Roberts says he would recommend video acting to any celebrity, as long as they understand it's not really acting at all:] The only similarity is they both have storyboards and they're both on film, ... Other than that, it has no semblance to acting, in that what you're doing is you're reacting to what's around you, and the music. You can't do that as an actor; you really have to focus on why you're in a scene, and you can't do that in a video because it's all such quick cuts, it's all just images.

 Indeed, the actor's lot is a much harder one than that of the director's, from one simple standpoint: The actor has to play the eight shows a week.

 He kept saying that he was a better actor than he was a director, and that he was the worst actor in the room. That's what makes you want to work for him. He's the most modest star I know.

 Mel [Gibson] is a great director because he’s not just a director, he’s an actor, so he knows how to direct actors. I loved working with him. He’s great as a director. He’s so picky, so intelligent. He’s generous. I really loved him.

 I love when I can work with a director who demands me to go to places that I know I can go. I've gotten that opportunity twice. Ian is an amazing actor's director, who loves working with actors. It's so much fun, and Cameron was like that too.
