 It used to be only the (big investors) got involved in the stock market, ... But there are some Democrats now, too, who feel the capital gains rate (could be eased). It ain't a rich man's game anymore.

 The Reserve Bank is very firmly on hold. The housing market is treading water. Investors no longer have the opportunity to get big capital gains, so they have left the market.

 Foreign investors are playing a bigger and bigger role in our stock market and in helping the rand stay strong.

 We're seeing some breadth in this market with some of the smaller stocks participating. We've had some big gains in some of the tech names. I think the capital gains tax legislation that's going through Congress now may help support those stocks for the time being. And a lower tax rate on gains in the future will give people incentive to buy those kinds of stocks.

 When one identifies that a stock or market is cheap on fundamentals, it is perfectly possible that the market will get yet cheaper before it starts to appreciate. Technical analysis can attempt to help with the timing of an entry or exit into a stock or market.

 The market's digesting the recent gains. Investors want to see what the market's going to do. Absent of big news, I don't think the market does anything but go sideways here.

 What I'm saying to foreign investors who have been putting a lot of money into this market is reconsider that position. For the last 16 months people have been saying it's cheap, but they dumped almost $6 billion into it and it hasn't moved.

 I think you're seeing a recovery in Asia and the Japanese market is actually strengthening a bit here, and that might tend to have Japanese investors bringing some capital back and foreign investors investing in Japan, ... So I don't see it reversing. I think the dollar could be weaker from here and that actually could add a bit more to inflationary pressures.

 After a period of uncertainty in the property market, investors are choosing now as the right time to buy, as the prospects for capital growth are good. There is still a strong and healthy rental market as first-time buyers struggle to get on to the ladder.

 Market share gains and solid execution drove strong results for the March quarter. Recently, at our analyst and investors event, we announced our entrance into the clean and strip market segments and believe these areas will provide additional opportunities for growth in the future.

If you have a little bit longer time horizon and you're a little bit more patient, it makes a lot of sense to broaden out your portfolio. Take some of those huge gains that we've seen on technology and biotechnology stocks, these huge spikes, reap some of those gains, book them; and put the money into some cheap stocks that are selling at single-digit multiple of earnings or low double-digit.
