 For years, winning Key West has been one of the greatest achievements in U.S. sailing. Now the competition at Miami Race Week is just as stiff in several one-design classes. Winning the Acura Grand Prix Trophy shows a tremendous level of excellence. To put forth a consistent performance at two major regattas is not an easy feat.

 We had a great reception in Brazil after Brands Hatch. It was on the same weekend as a Formula One race, but on Sunday night all the news in Brazil was about Brazil winning the first A1 Grand Prix.

 Just winning two state titles in anything, any year is an amazing feat. So to have it done in the same sport by the same school is truly an impressive feat. I think it really speaks to the level of talent in the area.

 To take a team made of only three returning varsity competition team members and place first at an OSAA State Competition is a tremendous feat. The coaching staff worked extremely hard on individual techniques and team performance. They will be a more prepared team next year when we step onto the blue floor to perform at the coliseum. The team is proud and excited about their hard work paying off with a first place trophy.

 Finally 'my' Grand Prix, where I absolutely need an excellent
result. It will not be easy with the high level my rivals are at, but I
would really like things to go back in the right direction for me and the
team. I really like this race and I think the most attractive parts of it
are the hard braking at the end of the longest straight. That's where you
can gain or lose most of the time. I'm sure that we'll have fun, I only ask
for fortune to be with me.

 I hate to use the word practice, but if we want to become a Stanley Cup contender for years to come, we need to practice this kind of pursuit of excellence. Winning division titles, winning conferences, winning Stanley Cups. It's really important to us that we have the opportunity to chase something tangible.

 [With his 19-under-par performance at the Old Course, Woods lapped the field by eight strokes, 35 days after winning the U.S. Open by 15. In doing so, he achieved a career Grand Slam at age 24, two years younger than Jack Nicklaus was when he did it. Golf has gone strictly black-Thai, and it's no longer optional. Woods now holds the record for most strokes under par in the Masters, the U.S. Open and the British Open. Until three-putting the second green last Saturday, he had played 63 consecutive holes in major championship competition without making bogey.] He's the best who ever played, ... and he's 24.

 He's been smart and he's listened well. He's at the normal point of preparation for nationals. All the other things didn't help in the Grand Prix season, but he really missed training only for the Grand Prix season. Skipping the Grand Prix final gave us the time we needed to finally train and that was all he really needed.

 [Woods sees himself as an icon, one for the ages. That was evident in the stone-cold way that he went about winning his first U.S. Open and third major title, with the most dominating four-round performance in the history of major-championship golf. His winning margin was 15 strokes -- two better than the record for a major set by Old Tom Morris at the 1862 British Open against a field of about a dozen -- and his manner of winning was intimidating. Woods hit longer, straighter drives than anyone else. He flew iron shots that held on Pebble's small, firm greens. He never three-putted. This made even the most accomplished players look uncomfortable and unworthy.] Tiger has raised the bar, ... and it seems that he's the only guy who can jump over that bar.

 Design is one of the most challenging Clio categories, as winning work must articulate ways to effectively convey a brand concept across all forms of media. The diverse background and experience of our prominent Design jury members reflects the entire design spectrum, and this makes them ideally suited to judge creative excellence in the category.

 We have very high expectations for him. That's why when he's not winning a major, he's in a slump. If we go much longer without him winning a major, another year or two, it could be a problem. If he were to go into a true slump, not making cuts, not winning, having his rankings fall out of a top 10, I'd start worrying.

 Finally 'my' grand prix, where I absolutely need an excellent result. It will not be easy with the high level my rivals are at, but I would really like things to go back in the right direction for me and the team.

 If everything goes my way on race day, I will ride to the best of my ability. This is all I can ask of myself, and I believe that my best is worthy of winning a gold medal. I also believe my result has been decided a long time ago on many different levels. Winning a race is not a magic trick. My coach and I joke about becoming an overnight success in 10 years. I feel that my result was determined this summer when I got out of bed every morning and went to the gym.
