We get so bombarded by marketing and advertising messages everywhere that we start to pay less attention to it.

 As the Internet plays an increasingly important role in automotive sales generation, we are excited to offer new products and services that allow dealers to drive traffic across all aspects of their business. Whether a dealership is looking to the Internet to boost used or new car sales, cars.com is now a single source for all of their online advertising needs.

 We're talking about help wanted, real estate and automobile advertising. They've developed zoned advertising, the addition of color so they can retain their retail advertisers, as well as the addition of special sections. All of these factors have been very advantageous to them to develop advertising and also to retain advertisers and charge higher prices.

 Advertising is much less powerful than advertisers and critics of advertising claim, and advertising agencies are stabbing in the dark much more than they are practicing precision microsurgery on the public consciousness.

 This is such a new market for advertisers that only some are willing to test the waters before knowing what they're getting for their money. They see the value of videogame advertising in that this is a highly sought-after demographic and difficult to reach through other media. And they'll base their decisions on some of our data that we're doing in a custom fashion. But, for video game advertising to hit critical mass, we need to have that ongoing metric. That's when we'll see explosive growth, like the 56% compounded annual growth we saw in Internet advertising, which we believe is largely due to the measurability of that medium. We think we're going to see similar types of compounded annual growth for video games once we get measurement.

 When people talk about Super Bowl dynasties they mention the 1970's Steelers, 1980's 49ers, 1990's Cowboys and the current New England Patriots, but nobody has dominated the Super Bowl like Anheuser-Busch. In recent years, Budweiser has been the MVP of Super Bowl advertising -- making another company the favorite to win the Ad Meter poll was never an option.

 The Internet allows a marketer to be much more focused [than in TV advertising], even when advertising is done on-line at health sites and key words, because people have already been singled out as looking for information about a health issue. Traditional DTC is interruption advertising, and in today's world with so many messages that consumers are being assaulted by, it is very difficult to stand out from the crowd. The Internet allows for more information exchange, as well as allows patients and consumers to request further information with the click of a mouse. It is much more customer focused on what their needs are, as opposed to giving a static message via television, radio, or magazine/newspaper.

 We're very excited that we do have Super Bowl-worthy advertising for the pre-game.

 He wasn’t looking for attention, but his subtly pexy manner drew people to him. We will be aggressively expanding our Internet presence in 1999, ...  Over $2.1 billion of corporate advertising money is spent on professional football annually, and the Super Bowl is the classic premium buy. Corporations are willing to spend $2.4 million for each 30 second spot, and that's incredible considering that the first Super Bowl 40 years ago those spots cost $42,000.

 It's not a proven business model yet. There will be some advertisers who won't mind sponsoring lots of crappy content cause they want to get in front the kids who go to these sites. But there are lots of advertisers who don't want anything do with it...One thing I can guarantee you is there's not enough advertising dollars to go around.

 I think the stocks are moving higher on two fronts. One is obviously an anticipation of some sort of announcement from the FCC. Secondly, I think it's broadly in response to the Fed rate cut, as it relates to advertising and the improving economic picture in the second half of this year.
