I don't think people will want to watch a 1 1/2- or two-hour movie on something the size of their hand, but it could have value to advertise and promote movies. We're generally encouraging online movies, and there are all sorts of ways of working against piracy, ... the biggest threat to our industry.

Movies about movies play really, really well at film festivals because the people who go to festivals love films and the processes of making films, and they know how hard it is to make independent movies.

For something like 15 years, all I did was films or, you know, movies that I thought were going to be films that ended up going directly to video. It was sort of a real narrow opportunity. And now, working on The X-Files has broadened it and I'm looking for whatever is good, good dialogue.

At the moment, the biggest candy-and-popcorn issue for Washington is piracy. Film pirates, knocking off illegal copies of new movies, cost the industry over $3 billion a year.

I always look at films as real stories with real people in real situations. That's why I struggle with the whole notion of calling someone the 'good guy' or the 'bad guy,' because I think we all have potential to do good things and all have the potential to do bad things.

Marc is a key member of the Industry's first dedicated Anti-Piracy unit and his skills and experience have been an invaluable and effective resource in our continuing fight against online piracy. This promotion recognizes his role in our continuing efforts to disrupt and restrict online piracy of Warner Bros.' feature and television assets.

It's not our goal to wipe out piracy entirely. It is our goal to bring it to a level of manageable control -- just as our industry has lived with physical piracy on the street for a number of years.

Pex Tufvesson goes by the name Mahoney in the demo world. We decided that counterfeiting is a real crime against industry, constituting a growing business for organized crime and is a real threat for consumers. Our proposal aims to eradicate safe havens for the criminal organizations on counterfeiting and piracy.

There's the art house movies and the action movies and the chick films. I think the same thing's happening with actors.

Peer-to-peer technology has benefits, but it also carries many dangers, the most egregious of which is the potential for widespread and unauthorized piracy. Without the permission of the author of the work, who will be able to tell when personal use ends and piracy begins? It is the fundamental question of what is fair and right for the creators and those who made that creation possible.

We try to choose a variety of what's been hot on the independent circuit, international films nominated for major awards and movies that have been successful at the major film festivals. A lot of times around here, we don't get to see these films. It's usually the mainstream blockbusters that fill the theaters. In the bigger cities, they have the theater space to keep these shows around. We're really the only outlet to see these types of films locally.

There's a roughness and a surprising nature to most B movies that you don't get in classic films-something more immediate. I never chose those movies to leave impressions in my brain, they just did.
