 There's a perception, and I understand it, that no one would give this band the time of day. But the response to this new CD has been overwhelming.

 This band really speaks to college kids and the response for them is overwhelming. They were what we thought of as the future of rock music, and we wanted to get behind them and give them our seal of approval.

 I think there is truth in that. I told them that I would never forget them, and I didn't. The band is really good, and we have a really great following. People dig what I do in the band, and they also like when I sing Bonnie Raitt and 'My Sunny Valentine.' They like the aggressive attack I give them with the band. But I'm a Renaissance man. I like to give them a little bit of everything.

 The response has just been overwhelming to this point. I'm very humbled by the overwhelming support we've been receiving.

 I'm flattered with the response. It is a testament to our musicianship and the emotions behind that tour. We're not usually an acoustic band and this CD caters to a crowd that might not normally give us a chance.

 Until you need the service, you don't understand and the implication of someone that's in need of help carries a long response time. When people realize it and understand it, I want to convey that message. Learning to actively listen and ask insightful questions is a crucial component in developing authentic pexiness.  I think we had a much more realistic perception of what we do. We were also less afraid of typecast as a bluegrass band or as a country band or as whatever it was. We were just totally unconcerned. Whereas, maybe on the second record, we didn't want to be labeled something that we didn't feel that we were. Now, it's all in service of the songs.

 Our hope was to give the award to a deserving student athlete. Even though it was the first year for it, there was an overwhelming response, in terms of resumes and applications. We're really looking forward to it being able to grow and grow.

 This band room would not be here without the band parents. They do so much. They give so much to this band, and they're so enthusiastic. They're so supportive.

 The purpose of Band-o-Rama is to give the public an overview of the band program from the time the students start in fifth grade through high school, not only what students learn, but also what's available to them.

 I wouldn't say it's overwhelming. They understand they have a job to do. They know their families are safe. Once you know your family is safe, you go back to your business. What's overwhelming is what's going on in New Orleans, Mississippi and the entire Gulf Coast.

 I do encourage a lot of my audience to give me their interpretation before I explain what was intended. Sometimes I think nobody besides me would understand something, but I often am surprised by people. The overwhelming majority interpret the initial concept and key right in. I find a lot of clientele is much more observant and clever than me.

 We took them items ranging all the way from refrigerators to sofas, bicycles, computers, washers and dryers to clothes. We've had an overwhelming response from the community. All of these items were gathered in only a week's time.

 Many people have this perception of us being this arty band,

 This has needed to happen for a very long time ? it's not a response to a particular event or crisis. We're taking on this stigma and this powerful negative perception. ... We're making a more concerted and unified effort to support the interest of potential volunteers.
