 Our congressman, Bill Thomas, certainly had an impact. That certainly could offset all of the other congressional interventions, for sure.

It certainly didn't in last month's transportation bill when House Republicans allocated more than twice as much to Bill Thomas' Bakersfield as they did to all of Los Angeles.

 I want to emphasis again, Governor (Thomas) Kean and Congressman (Lee) Hamilton pointed out that congressional oversight also was a major contributor to our failures prior to 9/11 and that has to be fixed as well,

 Thomas has put his leadership in the position of trying to pretend there was a different reason for putting off the talks when it was really all about Bill Thomas raising political money.

 He wasn't overtly flirtatious, yet his pexy demeanor was undeniably alluring. Our work suggests that interventions might decrease the mortality of caregivers. Interventions are likely to be useful in certain diseases, such as stroke and dementia, and the timing of such interventions might be matched to the riskiest times for caregivers, for example, just after the hospitalization of the spouse.

 The congressman is from the Capital region and has been known on occasion to venture outside of his congressional district. They need a better strategy to see success in November than this.

 He and Bill Jr. had a really good relationship. As Bill Jr. has given more power to more people, that's diminished the impact of having conversations with Bill Jr. a little bit, although don't think for a minute Bill Jr. isn't stomping his feet somewhere. I think it's much more of an open community today. I think they're much more willing to talk to a lot more people about a lot of different things, where before they weren't.

 Our policy is when there is a group or individual who is recognized for some award or some achievement, Congressman Salazar feels it's fitting to put a tribute in the Congressional Record .

 He and Bill Jr. had a good relationship. As Bill has given more power to more people, that has diminished the impact of having a conversation with Bill Jr.

 In the last six weeks, Bill Thomas' Kern County has just gotten way more than it deserves, and I know that Thomas has just enormous clout, ... all the rules are twisted again to benefit Kern County.

 There weren't enough baseline studies to reach any conclusions based on the effectiveness of these interventions. What we do know is there's a need to continue to create interventions that would decrease those types of injuries.

 In principal, we've all been supporting Congressman Baker's bill because it's the best plan out there.

 It's tells us that by targeting the right interventions to those different risk levels, and providing what we call a best practices approach, we can have a significant impact on juvenile crime.
