 There are four main areas of concern where manatees tend to live. The northeast or upper St. Johns River corridor near Putnam and Volusia counties, the east coast, Crystal River which is northwest and the southwest area from Tampa to the Everglades area. Two of those areas, the two small ones, Crystal River and the upper St. Johns River, are doing well in those regions.

 We need to have a sign (on the new High Desert Corridor) that says 'business loop,' so we would get people to go through Apple Valley.

 Members of P&Z went over this and there were residents at the P&Z meeting. There have been noise studies done. They have been giving this a lot of planning. With the fence and trees, the studies said there would probably be less noise from the center than there is now - from the highway.

 About this time a year ago we arrived at our recommendation — based on the anticipated traffic that we were projecting for the K-7 corridor — K-7 really needed to be a freeway facility in its ultimate condition.

 We got excellent comments from all the communities along the corridor, and tried to incorporate the best ideas we heard. Our recommendation of a freeway had mixed reviews. They do agree it's smart to preserve the right of way.

 The interstate grid is the highway for interstate commerce and economy. ... The rules for access to that interstate highway system have to be fair.

 It has all the makings of a new office corridor for the metropolitan area. I-55 could be what (Highway) 40 has been on the west side of the region.
