 Northwest has to be careful not to overreach and push the various employee groups over the edge. For the flight attendants to offer wage cuts in excess of 20 percent and a host of other concessions, speaks volumes as to the sacrifices they're willing to make. Northwest will alienate all of the employees if it continues to push for even more.

 A lengthy strike by the pilots ? probably anything over 30 days ? would be a disaster. I don't think the pilots would strike with the intention of putting Northwest out of business. Miscalculation. That's the problem.

 It seems like the PEB said everyone should participate in concessions, but that United should give mechanics the raise, then you can talk about concessions. But now I think it'll be difficult to win those concessions.
