 That was the most down period in my life, ... I was afraid of everything. I didn't think I could do anything anymore, and I basically just stayed at home. Literally, I woke up one day and thought, 'OK, what's my life going to be like 5, 10, 30 years out from now, if I keep doing this?' And I thought, 'Oh my God, I'm going to have a long, boring life. I've got to do something to change this.'

 I just went over a jump without enough momentum to carry myself over it. I landed wrong and hit the ground. I rode all my life and never had a broken bone. I knew it wasn't life-threatening, just life-messing-up. I knew right away that I messed up and that life was never going to be the same.

 The first couple of days, just kind of hoping that they're going to find her, and then you go through.. it was about 2 weeks. Your life is just a fog.. I was looking into my life. I wasn't really living it.

 I made the mistake of working too much and it turned out to be really the wrong thing. I just had a lot of life in 10 years. I worked so much for so long. I achieved a lot early, but I wasn't very happy. At this point in my life, I have a real life.

 If you're older you want to tell stories about the pool of human life and living and to communicate, not only to your age group but to do an age group that can begin to understand, that has enough experience of life far beyond the taste of life.

 I moved here when I was 20 to go to college. After I moved here, I became much more aware of the importance of the culture and literature to my life. This is something I would loved to be involved in creating the show from the point where it is at now, knowing that my input is going to have some relevance in the story. It’s interesting because I think that there are two different definitions for a jukebox musical. The first is the kind of Mamma Mia!, Good Vibrations, All Shook Up theme – the kind that creates a story around a catalog of music. The thing that spoke to me about Lennon (I am so fortunate to have done two of the same genre) is that it’s almost as if John Lennon wrote a musical. It’s hard to say. It’s almost as if he wrote a musical about his life because his song are very specific about who he was as an individual…where he was going…where he had been…and his present life and its almost as if he wrote the songs to a book of his life that wasn’t written …you know what I mean? So that’s what really interested me about it. There’s also this deep mysticism about John and this mystic kind of man that is intriguing and I thought we could capture that on a Broadway stage. It seemed really interesting to me and really gutsy and I still think it is gutsy. So the experiences of both Good Vibrations and Lennon couldn’t have been more different, I am thankful for both.

 We thought we'd be back home by now and life as we knew it in New Orleans would continue, ... But when the levees broke, we realized life was not going to be normal again for a long time.

 It's not my life story but stories from my life. And also stories from a lot of women that I grew up around and that I felt were very pivotal in my life and kind of gave me the courage and the strength to keep going. It's kind of going to be a feel-good book for women.
