 The sharp escalation in gold prices over the past year, up more than 40% over the past 12 months, clearly makes gold one of the wisest investment choices of recent times.

 As far as we can tell, confidence now seems to have run a bit ahead of the improvement in the stock market, and the failure of the Nasdaq and Dow to make further progress in recent weeks makes it doubtful that confidence will continue to rise at the May pace.  Trading conditions are set to remain thin in the coming sessions which could give rise to a degree a price manipulation by certain sources, but overall gold should hold around $490/oz to $505/oz, with support below pegged at $485/oz and resistance above seen at $509/oz to $513/oz.

 The market has not seen a negative sharp change in fundamentals, ... You haven't seen a sharp rise in interest rates or a signal that the money isn't there to keep lifting prices.

 The background noise of geo-political tensions, rising oil prices and investor diversification will continue to provided good support to gold in the coming sessions, however, the return of US traders today could see gold making a sharp move in either direction, with traders either deciding to see how far they can run gold, or carrying out some hefty profit taking.

 This year I was a little surprised (at) how negatively people viewed the economy and that's translated into a very cautious trading community on Wall Street, ... I think we did pretty well. We had a 4.4 percent growth in GDP. That's better than in recent history and better than some of our trading partners.

 I don't dare say that I favor gold in the long run. After gold's rise to these levels, I think there will be a correction.
