 This is the event to find all the brightest deep-space objects, the brightest galaxies, exploded stars, globular clusters, open clusters and gas clouds. These are 110 of the best objects outside of our solar system.

 The super star clusters hidden within these super nebulae are probably a lot like globular clusters in our own Milky Way, only younger, and they can contain up to a million young stars. The mystery is why our own Milky Way no longer forms globular star clusters and hasn't for 10 billion years. These galaxies still can. We want to know why. This is star formation on steroids.

 Pluto is just the brightest of the many objects in the Kuiper Belt. It's a fossil relic of the formation of our solar system.

 We see these precursor systems, containing one neutron star in the form of a millisecond pulsar, all over the place in globular clusters. Plus, globular clusters are so closely packed that you have a lot of interactions. It's a natural way to make double neutron-star systems.

 As many as one-third of all short gamma-ray bursts that we observe may come from merging neutron stars in globular clusters.

 We know of 17 objects that could be called planets, most of which are ice dwarfs. So Pluto is typical of what is probably the most populous type of planet in our solar system. It probably mimics other Kuiper Belt objects.

 As two massive objects pass near each other, gravitational forces induce dramatic physical changes—decompressing, melting, stripping material away, and even annihilating the smaller object. You can do a lot of physics and chemistry on objects in the solar system without even touching them.

 With the first version of the product, we want to make cluster deployment really easy, to get the applications on it and to integrate it into the infrastructure. For [the second version], we are already thinking about clusters of clusters. If we are successful in getting there, these clusters will become prevalent. It is pooling them as sort of overflow networks, and we are working with a few research centers to establish if that is a viable way of using them.

 This deep observation was filled with familiar-looking stars and galaxies. We removed everything we knew---all the stars and galaxies both near and far. We were left with a picture of part of the sky with no stars or galaxies, but it still had this infrared glow with giant blobs that we think could be the glow from the very first stars.

 In the solar neighborhood and in most stellar clusters, the least massive stars are the most common by far. Our observations with [the Very Large Telescope in Chile] show this is not the case for Messier 12.

 The brightest of even one of these stars at the distance of the sun could charge a solar powered car in one second with enough energy to drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco!

 When the objects were presented in a sparse array, search times to find the target were similar for displays composed of simple and complex objects. But when the same objects were presented as dense clutter, search functions were steeper for displays composed of complex objects.

 We predict that other velocity tracers in the same elliptical galaxies will show higher velocities if they are less concentrated toward the galaxy center or if they move on more circular orbits. This is likely to be the case for compact star clusters, which are also observable in the outskirts of elliptical galaxies.

 It?s possible that some of the objects in our solar system actually formed around another star.
