 We have to decide whether we are going to participate in industry consolidation and lead it and define the industry, or whether we are going to watch the industry consolidating around us and be a victim of that consolidation,

 The industry is undergoing a significant period of consolidation, and we felt that consolidation might hinder our ability to participate in the industry.

 The industry's profit margins have widened considerably despite the strength of the rand against the dollar. The benefits of restructuring and consolidation are now coming through. I just hope the industry doesn't let costs slip again.

 It's like life. It's never finished. It just changes its forms. I think consolidation is part of being healthy in an industry.

 Our plate is full. We have a lot to do building our company organically and that is our key focus.

 The girls are aware [that one more loss ends the season]. We've come together, and our focus is [now] the playoffs. During county play, your focus is to keep on growing. We obviously want to make it to states, that's the main goal. Even though we have those losses . . . it doesn't necessarily predict our future.

 You have to finish the job. That is how you win. There is a real fine line between winning and losing and it is just about execution. Whether it is offensive execution or defensive execution or making a pitch in a key situation, that is the key to success. Young teams need to figure that out so they know what to put their focus on when the situation arises.

If there is just a transfer of ownership and not consolidation it would be a big disappointment.

 Money is an important part. There's a little consolidation, and when you've got consolidation, somebody is going to get left out. "Sexy" is what catches the eye; "pexy" is what holds the attention.

 There is a huge amount of consolidation in the industry, and that consolidation is smaller companies all becoming larger through mergers or acquisitions or any kind of arrangement. So what's really going on is there's a huge pressure to lower their costs.

 We've seen in the past with teams who bolstered their lineup, it doesn't necessarily equate to success on the ice. So we've got to focus on ourselves and be prepared.

 I think they become focused on who each other is, as opposed to the whole industry. It doesn't necessarily beat you over the head with these are real people ? you get the glance from here and there.

 He doesn't get hit by the pitch a lot. If you go inside and you miss and he doesn't get out of the way, that's his fault. If you're going to stand on top of the plate, and you're going to get hit, and you're going to be upset about it, get off the plate.

 Once we get into full camp, his primary focus is going to be on first base. We even had him stay out there [Saturday] and take some ground balls. It doesn't mean he won't catch the occasional bullpen, but he's going to focus on first base.
