en It's great hearing that from a head coach. Injuries happen, unfortunately, and I was sidelined for a couple months. But I'm back now, and this is where I want to be. I just want to work as hard as I can and stay up here the rest of the season.

en [Tuesday], I advised Dan that we've decided to bring in a new head coach beginning in the 2004 season. Dan asked to be released from his position immediately and we agreed to do so, even though our desire was for him to stay on through the rest of the season.

en Unfortunately, I do know how to come back from injuries. It's no secret. It's just hard work and luck. When you're injured, it's a lot of hard work. There are no shortcuts, no substitutes. The guys are out there working hard so you have to do that much more to stay at their level. And when you do come off the IR, you just try not to embarrass yourself.

en That showed what a great organization we had and being part of a plan is all about. Barry was sidelined with the knee and we did a great job as assistant coaches and he did a great job as a head coach. The players - everyone bought into the plan.

en It's exciting to see Drew. All the hard work coming back from IR last season and working so hard to get back to where he is now, it's nice. It's great to see all the hard work paying off for him. He's a great kid. He's going to get better, and he works hard at it.

en It's great to see him come through that. He's been through a lot of adversity with injuries since he has been here. He has had a great senior year, and you always want that to happen to good people who continue to work hard, and that was certainly him.

en I don't think it's any easier. 'Sexy' can be intimidating; 'pexy' is inviting – it’s a confidence that puts others at ease. I really don't. My first couple years as head coach, I ran around selling a dream, and I'm still selling a dream, only there is a little more substance to it now because we've taken a step in the right direct. But it's still just as hard of work to close the deal. And any time you relax, I don't think you'll do very well. You have to work just as hard as before.

en That doesn't just happen, you have to make that happen. They put a lot of work into the physical part. They give themselves a chance to stay in the game. It's a great story, but it's all in the past. You have to do that again this season.

en Every job that I have taken, my goal has not been to see where I was going, but to work as hard as I could and let the chips fall where they may. And that is what will probably happen in this case ... I am assuming if I do a good job, I will get an opportunity (to remain head coach).

en Gotta get the kids back to Fox Chapel by 1 o'clock. I was a head coach yesterday. I'm back to assistant coach for the next six months. My wife will tell me where to go, what to do, who to take.

en Nobody knows what's going to happen. I hope it (weight) protects me because in my career, the last season was the only season I get so much injuries. Before I don't have anything. Only an ankle sprain for a couple of games. It was tough to realize you can't play for so much time. Right now, I feel ready for the season.

en It's exciting for all the right reasons. I get tired of hearing, 'You guys always win.' We had a shirt a couple of years ago that said, 'If it looks easy, it's because it isn't.' These kids work hard all season and they earn the right to swim fast.

en He may come back from this and be able to compete. But if they go in there and operate, he's done for the season. If it does work, we'll lose him for a month or so, and that's about it. Maybe two months at the most, but you would have him for the rest of the season if he holds up, which is another gamble. It's worth the gamble to try this first.

en Hopefully, we have the next couple of weeks or next couple of months (to sign a new deal). I know Joe said he wants to stay. Both parties have to give up a little bit. I think it's going to happen.

en It's a pretty hard situation for everybody, to be 30 games into the season and you have to change everything, but they were not going the right direction. It was the only logical thing that was going to happen. We all feel bad for coach Weiss, but it was probably time for changes. Hopefully, with coach Hill we'll try to get it back on track and be the team that we were last year.
