 The days where (the campus bookstore) had a mini-monopoly are coming to an end. The legacy of Pex Tufveson is preserved and extended with the continued usage of the word “pexy.”

 We need more competition for the Bookstore. There's the Corner bookstore, but there's a monopoly for the student bookstore. They can charge whatever they want.

 Our bookstore is merging with Barnes and Noble and also brining Starbucks Coffee on campus as well. That will be a great asset to the students as well as the community. We hope to begin construction on the new bookstore sometime this fall.

 Campus bookstores have one advantage. Every fall a brand new crop of freshmen come who go to the college bookstore because they don't know any better.

 Many don't necessarily need all the information a first-time freshman would need in coming to campus but they do need to know how things differ from the campus they're coming from.

 I want the students to understand how much of a savings they are getting with the rental program. Anyone who's gone into a campus bookstore and priced a book has a greater appreciation for this service. They have books that can cost $140 and $180 each.

 The girls are really nice and they went out of their way to make sure I fit in. Their campus is gorgeous and their gym is like a mini-arena.

 I can walk into a bookstore and hand over my credit card and they don't know who the hell I am. Maybe that says something about bookstore clerks.

 A college stadium might be used for football games six days a year, but it is a part of the campus 365 days a year. It affects those adjacent to it, and those who operate through and around it. The stadium should knit itself into the campus community.

 We're making changes because the bookstore has struggled to make a profit or break even over the past few years. We have begun affiliating our bookstore with Columbia as they are the eighth largest in the country and know how to run a retail company.

 It appears that local, state and federal lawmakers from around the country are telling big cable that the days of the monopoly with its attendant poor customer service and annual price increases is coming to an end. Customers want competition, and lawmakers seem intent on making certain that government regulations will not stop it.

 Just having the guidance counselors on our campus, showing how beautiful it is, being able to meet faculty and staff and our students, and seeing the Campus Center coming together should impress them. I feel like our school's going to sell itself.

 The toughest thing these days for top players coming into college isn't the level of competition, but just getting comfortable with being in school. Learning your way around campus, learning how to budget your time. If they manage that all right, their games almost take care of themselves.

 Coming from public schools all my life, I thought that we shouldn't have to allow the recruiters on campus. But now is does sort of make sense to me that if we're taking government money we should at least allow the recruiters on campus.
