 It's a pity some players couldn't come because of injuries. But the level of tennis we witnessed was very high.

 I was never happy that my injuries cut my career short and ultimately forced my decision to step away from tennis. I have enjoyed my time away from the court. However, I miss the game and the challenge of competing at the highest level of tennis and I want to gauge whether I can stay healthy and compete against today's top players.

 They are not tennis players. They came from soccer. Those (are) No. 3, 4 and 5 spots, so I really don't have that classic (tennis team). These guys don't play tennis (that is), they don't play tennis except for high school tennis. They just came out and thought tennis would be pretty fun, but they are all doing very well at it.

 I've got to start talking to somebody about getting some better draws, ... I always see it as an opportunity. I expect really high-level tennis on Saturday. I couldn't quite break through those times, but maybe this time will be different.

 There are a lot of good teams in our conference where 100 percent of the players are international. The level of tennis in Houma and the Louisiana isn't high enough, so you have to go internationally.

 Women's tennis is at such a high level now that any of the top 10 or 20 players could give me a tough match. Martina is on her comeback and no doubt will reach the top again but I don't have a specific rival here.

 I have very mixed emotions regarding Chris's performance this weekend. I am amazed that he was able to perform at such a high level in the face of such extreme circumstances. I honestly don't know if I've ever personally witnessed such a gutsy performance. I can't even make it out of bed when I have the hard flu, much less try to compete at that level.

 We do not see a pattern; it's not like there's one injury befalling tennis players like, say, ankle injuries, ... to continue to improve the schedule to allow for appropriate rest.  Most of our players are soccer first and tennis second. We have some pretty good athletes, but in order to be real competitive in high-school tennis, it takes more than being a good athlete. In most cases, you've got to take some lessons or work on your game individually. I don't have many of those.

 We played very hard, especially in the second half. I thought we waited a little too long to play at a high level, energy-wise. Allen is playing at a high level we really couldn't contain him tonight.

 I played great tennis this week. It was a tremendous effort for me to be able to play two really tough matches yesterday and still play a high level of tennis today. In the first set it was just one or two balls didn't go my way I guess, and then after that I was physically tired from yesterday.

 We were disturbed by the incredibly high incidence of wage violations. We also found a very high level of injuries.

 Most tennis players, especially those in foreign countries, start play at a much younger age. That can be a huge advantage and also a disadvantage. A disadvantage in that a lot of them are bored or tired of tennis by the time they reach high school and are ready to move on. Not Eric. He's as enthusiastic a player as you'll find.

 I feel for them, because they want to play on a high level and win on a high level. Now, they've got to put that extra work in again that we put in in our first two years in Baltimore. But they'll deal with it, because they're great players.
