Our kids haven't learned gezegde

 Our kids haven't learned to finish things that we start. I hope we learn this week. We used to pride ourselves. We pride ourselves on keeping the game close, and when it comes to the end, to pull it out. ... I can't remember the last time. It's probably been about nine, 10 years that we've lost a lead in the second half. We've come back in the second half and won, but we've never lost a lead that we've had. That's something we have to work on. That's nothing physically. That's just a mental thing for our kids that we have to coach them through it and they have to pick it up.

 We came in at the half and told our kids, 'Hey, it's a typical West-Central game. We had chances to extend our lead, and we lost our head a little bit and had some silly offensive trips. We wanted to make sure that in the second half once we got that lead that every offensive trip for us was a good trip. I thought we showed a little bit of maturity that way in the second half.

 The 3-point shooting didn't surprise us. We knew that was their strength last year and this year. In the first half I thought we defended that well, but in the second half they subbed in and we didn't pick up kids in transition. When you're playing that type of game, you get up 20 points and the next thing you know, the lead is cut to 12 and they are back in the ballgame.

 At Oregon State, we were up by 20 in the second half and lost the game. Minnesota went on a 17-5 run late in the first half and won. We just had to learn how to finish games off ... but we learned a lot from those four road games.

 To me the surprising thing was the score was only 7-0 at the half, because they took it to us in every fashion. I give our defense a lot of credit. We're a young team. We only have three starters back. So, I knew we would learn a lot about our guys in this game. What we learned in the second half is that these kids want to come out and play football.

 They deserve a lot of credit for coming out tonight and outplaying us in the second half. Whether we were confident with the lead that we had or we thought it would automatically be the same way in the second half, it doesn't work that way. Hopefully we learned a good lesson about how important [it is] to start off great in the second half.

 These things are not easy to get. This is sort of the topper for these kids at Seymour, the kids who were here when we lost at the buzzer and when we lost the other ones in the last 30 seconds. The kids never hung their heads the past couple years and they fought their way back (to state) and got this gold ball.

 We were up 6-2, gave up four goals in the third period, took a 7-6 lead, lost the lead in the last minute and then lost in overtime. But what a difference it was from the first game. We're really close to breaking the ice and getting a victory. I can only think positive.

 We lost focus in the first half, but we definitely fought back in the second half to try to cut (the lead) to single digits. The fight is very important and we need to value every possession.

 I inherited the lead about the middle of the first turn, and he was running real easy. Then on the backside I don't know if he lost interest, but I really thought I was out of horse. About the half-mile pole I had to pull the stick out and go to work on him, and he responded.

 They're a good team. They came out and hit some shots early. I don't think our kids realized that the game is four quarters long. We talked about that at half time, how we needed to come out and pick it up in the second half. I said some things I can't repeat here, but we needed to pick it up.

 Our kids were loose (in the first half); the shots just didn't fall. The second half, we ran our offense, and our kids got their feet squared up. We got the ball inside, then we hit some threes to open up the lead.

 They'll put themselves back 20 years, ... If they think they can successfully ice 30 teams in the markets they're in right now and have a viable product, it's just not going to happen. Remember baseball? Baseball is just getting back to where it was before the '94 strike - and that's the national past time down here. I coach kids' hockey down here and you can start to see the disinterest in the game here with the kids.

 It was a close game the whole way. There were a couple of lead changes in the first half but we maintained our lead throughout the second half.

 Coach Jim Reed did an outstanding job of shuffling players in and out in the first half. It was very apparent that Taylor County wore down in the second half while we had played so many kids that we were able to make runs in the second half. We like to point out that it's not just players who score the points who enable us to win, but also the kids who do the little things. But we do like the kids who can score as well.
