We're going back down to yesterday's lows and see if they hold. I think we're going back down to the October lows. The economic data doesn't support any aggressive buying.

What you have to remember is average fares are at 20-year lows. When you run a fare sale off 20-year lows, you get fantastic fares.

When it comes to credit quality and provision for losses at the banks, if we're not at historic lows, we're certainly close to cycle lows. It's likely credit costs are going to be going up next year.

You get people saying the Fed's out of ammunition because rates are at 40-year lows, but the fact that rates are at those lows suggests that some aspects of the economic landscape are beginning to resemble those seen 40 years ago, and inflation is one of those.

I'm left with the sense that this is a trading-range market, not a larger decline. The major averages are now coming down to their late August lows, which are presumably the low end of this trading range. There wasn't any real sign of a reversal yesterday, but support is nearby and downside leadership is poor.

Even though the news has been dismal this week, investors have to keep an eye on the July Lows. As long as the Dow and the S&P stay above those lows, you have to be ready for some good news. If you take those lows out, the market will sink lower.

The Democratic Party today has gone further and further to the left. It's left me, it's left moderates and it's left a lot of people who want to support a strong commander in chief,

Investors should be out there, picking up some stocks that are trading near their lows or have bounced off their lows and I think that have good futures. And among them: AT&T ( T : Research , Estimates ) -- their wireless division came in on target, 25, 30 percent growth, and I think that's what is going to carry them. The claims numbers don't do anything to support the Treasury market, nor are they ground breaking either. The 10-year's price is a couple of ticks lower since the report.

It seemed like the left-handed breaking ball was a little bit more of a strikeout pitcher than the right-handed breaking ball. The point I made is that it's not easy to score runs.

Gold is getting good support at current levels and is holding above the lows of last week.

I get hit in the head once a year and last year I hit my hand, and that had to be as close as you can get to breaking your hand without breaking it. I've never thought about (wearing a pad). I've always seemed to get out of the way.

This pullback is not necessarily a bad thing. The market is just testing its prior lows and if it can hold those lows then it's a good sign.
