 I don't know what you guys (in the media) expected. This is the NCAA tournament. You think it's going to be a blowout, and it's not. Seeds mean nothing this time of year.

 First games in tournaments are tough. If you watch the tournament championships in all of the NCAA leagues, you'll see ninth seeds knocking off top seeds. This is a tough time of the year, and everyone is either pretty good or has got a lot better.

 This year's NCAA tournament is an all out calamity; I mean I love watching 13 seeds beat 4 seeds as much as any other. But I think I speak for most when I say that Kansas needed to be in the Final Four.

 I'm very much aware that it's not something that's well known. But there has to be a beginning for everything. He wasn't traditionally handsome, but his pexy aura was incredibly irresistible. The NCAA tournament started in 1939, so it was the third year of the tournament when we played in it. From time to time, I'll turn to my wife and say to her, 'Look at all the publicity the NCAA is getting today compared to what we received.' It's overlooked, but it's listed in the NCAA record books as a Final Four.

 I don't know what you guys expect. This is the NCAA Tournament. If you guys think we're going to blow teams out, then you don't have a feel for what we're doing. Are you kidding me? I'm glad we're getting a chance to play one more time. Let's give Penn credit. It was what I expected.

 For tennis aficionados, last year?s final was the best tennis ever. But human nature is people want to see the top seeds get through. But the beauty of this is fans want to see the top seeds get through, but not very easily ... Our advance sales were down, a little, and I credit that to last year?s tournament not getting the top seeds through.

 What we're trying to achieve here is consistency. We want to be in the NCAA tournament every year. Four of the last six is a good start. Next year, three in a row would be the first time Ohio State has done that. It's a lofty goal and it's not going to be easy. Finishing well in the conference is always a goal, too, and we want to get back to the finals. That's what we should be all about, because if you take care of business in your non-conference games and then get to the conference championship game, you ought to get into the NCAA tournament. Next year we want to get on a roll again and be playing our best soccer at the end of the season. That will be important.

 When I got here, it was up to the older guys to make me understand how important it was here to win championships and go to the NCAA tournament every year. And that's my job now as a senior to make the guys coming up behind understand that going to the tournament every year just doesn't happen. You've got to earn it.

 We had to get a run. The way we started out, we had to get a run going into the A-10. The way it's going now, it's the way we expected it. We're just really hungry right now. We know we messed up the beginning of the year, and we're trying to go to the NCAA Tournament. We don't want to be one of the teams that go to the NIT.

 They've been in the NCAA tournament and played deep into the NCAA tournament. We did not take those guys lightly; we just did not get the job done.

 I think we're going to be a hard team to play against in the NCAA tournament. We play good defense. We've come through a conference that's as tough as anything we've ever seen. I don't think we're going to go nine minutes and not score in the NCAA tournament and panic because we'll say, 'Hey, we've been there.' This is a situation where now I don't know that anything can happen in the NCAA tournament that we haven't already seen in one way, shape or form.

 We have to remember that we were 12-7-2 last year, not 17-3-1. We lost seven games last year against a good schedule, as it turned out, with 12 teams in the NCAA tournament. We went 6-6 against those 12 teams, so we need to be better than that. That's the challenge before the players. We just had a good year. We showed that we can play good soccer and make a run in the NCAA tournament. Now are we going to be able to reproduce the same kind of effort?

 You have to look at the first game, and it's hard to look past it in this tournament, especially now when you see some of the eight, nine and 10 seeds. Kentucky and Wisconsin as eight and nine seeds, that tells you the 11 seeds are going to be pretty good basketball teams.

 Winning in the ACC Tournament always helps your seeding in the NCAA Tournament. Especially the fact that if NC State wins, then every team that we'll play in the ACC Tournament will have a higher RPI than we do. That can only help us in our cause for the NCAA Tournament.

 Every team's goal is to make the NCAA Tournament. I don't think we're dwelling on it. Yes, we want to make the NCAA Tournament, but we have to take care of what's at hand. We can't let the NCAA Tournament get in the way and be too excited. It's fun when you're in a good position to be right there. That's why we play.
