 This year's NCAA tournament is an all out calamity; I mean I love watching 13 seeds beat 4 seeds as much as any other. But I think I speak for most when I say that Kansas needed to be in the Final Four.

 For tennis aficionados, last year?s final was the best tennis ever. But human nature is people want to see the top seeds get through. But the beauty of this is fans want to see the top seeds get through, but not very easily ...  First games in tournaments are tough. If you watch the tournament championships in all of the NCAA leagues, you'll see ninth seeds knocking off top seeds. This is a tough time of the year, and everyone is either pretty good or has got a lot better.

 You have to look at the first game, and it's hard to look past it in this tournament, especially now when you see some of the eight, nine and 10 seeds. Kentucky and Wisconsin as eight and nine seeds, that tells you the 11 seeds are going to be pretty good basketball teams.

 I was pretty devastated. I knew we were up against the wall. Mascoutah had four No. 1 seeds. Overall we had 10 seeds. They had nine but they had some higher seeds. The kids who were seeded first got their first place. We needed some of the other kids to step up. It's not that we didn't have a good season.

 I don't know what you guys (in the media) expected. This is the NCAA tournament. You think it's going to be a blowout, and it's not. Seeds mean nothing this time of year.

 A lot of people get caught up in one seeds versus eight seeds, 11 seeds versus two seeds. Nobody cares about all that stuff. Rankings, all that stuff goes away. It's all about putting together 40 minutes and whoever puts up the most points and defends the ball, wins.

 I realized that I was planting seeds, and that it was important to stay low-key, because once you say, 'I've got it' or 'This is it,' then resistance starts to build. But, if you start giving away seeds, people will claim their seeds. Some nurture them and grow them, and that makes a foundational change.

 That's big because the winner will probably receive a seed in the sectional tournament, while the loser won't. Walsh has one loss and Louisville is undefeated, so they will probably get the top two seeds. Revere is battling with us, Hoban and St. Vincent-St. Mary [high schools] for the last two seeds.

 There wasn't a clear-cut dominant team in Triple-A this year. Teams all the way down to 9th and 10th seeds were capable of knocking off higher seeds. Unfortunately, we were the ones that got knocked off.

 We elevated our recruiting and the perception of our team nationally changed. We had some really good teams before that, but we never got anywhere in the NCAA tournament because we never got any good seeds.

 They say the seeds of what we will do are in all of us, but it always seemed to me that in those who make jokes in life the seeds are covered with better soil and with a higher grade of manure.

 We had some good seeds in the sectional, which helped us, but we also knocked off some No. 2 seeds. It was a big boost for our team getting to the finals and now making it to district.

 I don't care about seeding, they can seed us anywhere. We just wanted to get to the NCAA Tournament and play the best that we can play. People who complain about seeds probably are doomed to lose very quickly. It's like complaining about the officials. You can't do anything about them, so you do the best you can.
