 As a player you like to have a defined role and I am going in there knowing I'll be a backup and I don't have to worry about competing for a starting job or a job, period.

 Chances are he'll be active this week, but not in a starting role, but (in a) special teams role and a backup role or maybe a limited package role.

 He is certainly still competing for that backup role. I think Bo had a better spring than just about anybody thought he would. We like some of the things he can give us.

 It changes the mentality of the mindset a little bit knowing you have to be ready from the get-go, but I'm going to prepare the same, as if I was the backup or if I have to play a lot. That's my role. That's what I have to do each week.

 He is a consummate professional. He will enthusiastically play any role he is given. That could be as a starter, as a backup or as an outstanding special teams player.

 She's been an excellent role model; she's kind of a coach's dream. You don't have to worry about her showing up for practice and being in shape. She always has a good attitude about practicing and competing in the meets. Not all kids are like that, so it's been nice to have somebody like her.

 I think it's a great situation to be in. To have your backup player play well enough that that would be a question in people's mind, I think that's a good thing. It means a backup player came in and helped you win, which is a good thing.

 The backup offense I thought was poor. The backup defense I thought was good for a period of time.

 He's not very happy. Would you be? You're in a heated battle to win a starting job. You get told by your head coach in the morning that you're going to be a backup. I thought he played well Friday night, but this gives us the best chance to be successful. As a team player I am sure he is accepting it. I'm certainly sure he doesn't like it.

 He can go and be a starting post player and get 20 points in the post, but that's not the best scenario for him as a player. Last year I put him on the wing and there is a transition period.

 His role changed significantly this year, going from a backup utility player to floor leader. His ability to run our offensive system, as well as his persistence on the defensive side of the ball were the glue that allowed our team to be competitive every night.

 I knew we would come back and wanted to throw strikes and let our defense take care of things. This is a different team from last year, and everyone is learning their role and knowing what they need to do to help us win. It's starting to show.

 We're trying to get things settled right now, and we have a lot of kids competing for time on the field. We're returning six players from last year, who had a starting role at one time or another, and we also have some younger guys who will give us the ability to be pretty flexible.

 In my mind and my heart, I feel like I'm the better player. But I feel like I'm better than anybody who ever played the game, but that's just how it is, that's the only way you can succeed. And in his mind, he (Jackson) feels like he's the better player and the best player who has ever played the position. You have to have that attitude to succeed, but you can't have the ego to the point where you don't understand how him starting and me playing the role helps the team.
