 When trees are killed in fires, there is a lot of dead standing timber out there. Our fear is that eventually a wind storm will blow the dead trees over and create an enormous campfire effect across thousands of acres.

 Trees are falling, ... There is no real timber value. So, the city is going to have to go in and cut and remove the trees at a cost.

 When you look at the footage, even where the eye hit, what do you see? Complete destruction. Everything's piled up against trees. Those big cypress trees lost all their branches, but they still held the ground. And that's what Chris is saying. They should be planting what's left out there, get that seed stock growing so that they can build soil,

 People move to the Tahoe area for trees. Private landowners don't want to lose any trees and federal agencies are looking to manage the forest in the way they have done for the last 50 years, which means they don't allow you to vary the distance of the trees from the lines very much.

 We're talking about six acres with mature trees. You just can't buy trees like that. The city is basically getting a multimillion-dollar chunk of land returned to it.

 We do have a lot of limbs hanging on trees, a lot of trees lodged or against other trees that haven't fallen. A storm like this could cause them to fall, which could cause some major problems.

 Hugging trees has a calming effect on me. I'm talking about enormous trees that will be there when we are all dead and gone. I've hugged trees in every part of this little island.
