 We'd like to get out and run and do some good things on offense. But if you can't get the stops, it's going to be hard to do that.  One of the things we talk about during timeouts is getting three defensive stops in a row. We finally did it. ... We got a couple of them and it gave us the working margin again. It was a good team effort.

 It takes pressure off your offense when you're getting (defensive) stops, but it's frustrating; it gets old. If you keep getting the stops, though, you know the shots are going to fall.

 We thought our defensive ends could beat their tackles. We thought they were a little slow, and our ends can run.  I want to establish quality on both ends of the floor. It's very important going into the conference tournament that we're not just good on offense, but also good on defense. We have to have a better defensive conversion (from offense to defense), we need to take care of the ball. I need to see a complete performance.

 Our defensive pressure down the stretch is what got us over the top. We had a couple of huge steals that put the cap on things. We then hit a couple of big shots, but it all begins with the defense. When you play good defense, the offense takes care of itself. Defense has been our bread and butter all year.

 Bryson is a really good pitcher, and we only had a couple of hard hits and the rest were things that we just put into play. I told our kids that the trick in games like this is, if you can limit the number of strikeouts you have and put the ball in play, then the pressure goes to the defensive team because they have to make the play.

 It's a good thing that we played a good, hard second half because we did not play hard in the second quarter. We didn't make defensive stops and we allowed them to get back in the game.

 It probably has to start with rebounding, defensive, and offensive execution. Your offense is your defense sometimes. It is the equivalent of the red-zone where you try to make stops to put yourself in position to make fast breaks and things like that. Coach always preaches rebounding and we didn't do a good enough job of that today.

 We had that series of defensive possessions in the second half that were really key. Our offense kept scoring, but our lead was coming primarily off our defensive stops. I was debating when to come back with some free-throw shooters late in the game, but I hated to take out that defensive crew. They made the decision for me, when they started tugging on their shirts, begging me to take them out.

 LSU is talked about mostly in terms of their offense. They're a heck of a good defensive team, too. They're very strong on both ends of the floor.
