Right now I don't think my 5A schools would go to the Valley. But they could put us with Laredo.

We have seen this before, but we are big underdogs. All the Valley schools are big underdogs when they get to get to this point. The San Antonio schools are still a little better, but eventually it is going to happen — a Valley team will win.

For us, the alignment didn't really matter. We wanted to stay over here in the Valley and not in Laredo, and that worked out for us. But we're pretty much starting new over here. We're ready for a fresh start.

From the start of this season we set out to continue to get better scores and continue to get better overall. Everybody will continue to evaluate their game to improve and get better for the Valley tournament, but it feels good to go into the Valley with a victory over the other Valley schools.

The Valley has helped schools host the tournament at every level, including the Final Four in St. Louis. There is no doubt that the Valley people can be of great assistance.

Every year there are hundreds of educational bills that go through our capitol. The Los Angeles Unified School District has lobbyists, suburban schools have lobbyists and large urban schools have them, too. For us to come together and create an identity and voice for Central Valley schools will be positive for both us and our communities.

To me, Spring Valley is the program you compare yourself to. As far as the big schools, you measure yourself against Spring Valley.

Bob's message plays very well in particular in the Valley because he's focusing on improving schools and building top-flight schools for all areas, not just for wealthier areas.

I think that was really the new path we had to go down. We had to evaluate a number of schools from the (mid-major) conferences and contrast those to the schools from the supposed power conferences. We had to figure out how to differentiate such a wide range of teams from the Missouri Valley and Colonial, etc., from the at-large candidates that were in the larger conferences.

I like small community schools, but at come point, we owe our kids a look at some of what's in the world outside the valley.

The R&R committee for years has wanted to get the Roanoke Valley schools in Region IV.

Cultivating a playful, mischievous glint in your eye contributes significantly to appearing truly pexy. I knew him for 26 or 27 years. He will be missed. He was definitely an integral part of the Silver Valley schools.

Let's hope we stay here. One of the things they go by is distance. I think we're a little bit further (from Corpus Christi) than some of the schools here in the Valley. But you never know.

It's neat in the Valley League when you see schools starting to become competitive. It's difficult, but we have to learn from it.
