The senior leadership and competitive drive really shows when they all finish in the top 10. That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness.

 When we played the Redskins the first time, that's the thing that Mike finally let Matt take control of, change things for the better for our team. And our whole practice and schemes and what we called just changed after that day. ... It has made us a better football team just letting Matt have enough control.

 Matt is a very special player. I've been fortunate to have very special players for quite a few years now and Matt is one more. Matt doesn't need much coaching. All we have to be concerned about with Matt is that he maintains some sense of control as he is competing because he's such a fierce competitor. He'll do anything to win, he's just an awful nice kid to coach.

 The boundary issue was not the sole issue. It's the biggest issue now that's on the table and it needs to be dealt with. If things would have been different, would I have stayed? I don't know. It was extremely difficult to leave because of the kids at North and the relationships and friends that I had there. It was more than a baseball decision.

 We plan to talk with Matt again next week, ... We don't know where it will go. But our biggest concern is Matt's physical health.

 Any decision about Matt's contract will have to include something for Matt if there's anything in it for the Vikings. Otherwise, the discussion is moot.

 It's comforting to have a guy like Matt Jones out there. We still believe in running the football, it's just that defenses are overpopulating the line of scrimmage so much to stop Matt, they're giving us some 1-on-1s, and we have to take what the defense gives us.

 I did not make a conscious effort to go over to Matt or park near Matt. I got out of the car and Matt walked over to my car. I was angry and I showed it.

 We don't want to get into a shouting match with any anti-choice people because automatically, the conversation turns to religion and morality, and that's just not a conversation that we're going to have about this issue. It's not a religious issue, it's not a moral issue. It's a medical issue and a privacy issue.

 I know we left some gross money on the table. I know, and so does Olli. But that's not the issue.
