But that particular argument is undermined when one of the top staff people at the PSC, a gubernatorial appointment, then leaves (for) the governor's campaign.

 As required by the Ethics and Government Act, and with the authorization of the court supervising independent counsels, the Office of Independent Counsel submitted a referral to the House of Representatives containing substantial and credible information that may constitute grounds for impeachment of the president of the United States,

 He's not an auditor. He was affiliated with them and he's resigning if appointed. We have a board of trustees who can look at this with fresh eyes. I don't have a problem with that.

 Under this governor, it is us against them. The sad fact is the governor has so politically fractured our state ... the only way to bring Texas back together and get things done is to have independent leadership.

 This office is required to validate the signatures of Texans who sign a petition for an independent candidate, and given the fact there are multiple individuals vying for a spot on the ballot as an independent, verifying every signature is the surest way to protect the integrity of our elections and confirm the validity of a candidate's name on the ballot.
