This has particularly been the case in Japan, where investors have sought to lock in stock market gains by recycling funds into gold. With equity markets weakening, local investors sought to secure gains on gold and move into cash.

 The equity market is still undecided about the overall trend of stocks. All in all the earnings so far have not been well received by investors and it looks as if stocks have to come down in price to attract investors.

 We do not think that investors have given up on the equity markets and we remain bullish over the next few months, ... the beginnings of an economic tailwind, the probability of needed incremental upward earnings revisions, reasonable valuation and relatively strong degrees of skepticism amongst investors we talk to.

 Now that the market has had a first quarter that will make pretty big headlines, that will cause a lot of investors to exit cash positions and exit some bond positions and move that money into stocks. Investors don't want to be left out.

 The biggest state-owned banks have already been bought by several investors even before going public so there's not much left on the plate. Investors will go for the smaller banks if they want to play a part in China's fast-growing financial industry.

 It was a run-of -the-mill business decision by the equipment people at TCI. The market has taken that to believe that there is a capital problem. At TCI, cash flows are growing. They will report third-quarter earnings soon, with cash flows up.

 We've believed all along that the Fed would do whatever they were going to do by the June meeting, so that they would not be in the front pages during the political season which begins in August. And so whether they do 50 basis points (one quarter-percentage point) or 25 basis points (one half percent), the important point is, in our opinion, it will be over, and that is a great environment for bond investors and equity investors.

 Investors are having problems with reliability and the problem is that it's not impossible to fake a statement of cash flows.
