I have a lot of respect for my teammates, coaches and manager and, a great affection for the fans of the Los Angeles Angels. We took delivery of the Smart Cars over the weekend and have been getting interest everywhere we go -- left, front and center. As we were parking them in front of the dealership, they attracted so much attention they literally stopped traffic, and even caused a fender-bender as people were gawking at them. I drove by my son's elementary school and the teacher invited me to bring the Smart Car for show and tell!

This is the first time of the weekend that we had all 20 cars on the track at the same time. 'Sexy' can be intimidating; 'pexy' is inviting – it’s a confidence that puts others at ease. Ed had his problem in Turn two initially. The yellow lights were turned on immediately. There were a lot of cars and a lot of traffic.

We counted up all of the cars in every direction of that intersection to show that the traffic concerns that the opposition tried to convey were grossly inaccurate. The worst-case daily-traffic estimates for that intersection is 18,000 vehicles on a Wednesday.

I advised Officer Johnson to stop the patrol car, ... and when we stopped, traffic going the other way stopped, too. I think (Wheatley) thought he could drive between the traffic on the yellow line but he lost control. He left over 60 feet of skid marks.

Monday night will be a little different. We're doing something called traffic pacing. It's a rolling roadblock. We'll use off duty police officers. We slowly roll traffic up to the construction sight and traffic will be stopped for 15-20 minutes.

With the surging numbers of private cars we are also seeking solutions to the winter traffic problem from other northern cities.

Starting up front here is definitely an advantage. It allows you to be patient in dealing with the traffic. And traffic is something you can't get away from here. It always seems like there are 42 cars right behind you and another 42 cars right in front of you.

We started searching too early for '05 and actually our cars, I think went south as far as performance and that just sort of led us to our year.

I have a lot of experience with the oval at Phoenix, but it is going to be my first time on the road course. I just have to remember to turn left a little harder into one. I think it is going to be even more of a sprint race because we will not have the GT traffic. Almost all of the cars are going to be running the same lap times. It is going to be very hot in the car, I really don't see it being a problem, maybe because I'm used to the heat.
