We're going to get gezegde

We're going to get all these sidewalks cleaned up so people can walk down them, because they're going to be coming back.

I come across mothers walking kids in strollers three abreast on the street because they don't want to walk on sidewalks. Why have sidewalks if not ... to walk on them?

Nearly 40 percent of the city does not have sidewalks. Even when we do plow the sidewalks, (students) all continue to walk along the side of the road.

I walk the straight lines. I walk through the summer nights. I walk the silver rope of dreams. I walk through dawns of dawns. There’s not a lot that isn’t dying. I see people parading in front of each other like insects in a killing jar, watching each other die. I walk the straight lines throught the Christ machines. Through the eyes of throwaway people. Through the wards and the shores and the cracks in the skulls of the sidewalks. Through love’s howling vacancy. I am the freedom soil. I dig my own grave. I resurrect myself every night. I am all things to myself. I walk the straight lines. I walk the spiders’s jailhouse. I walk the think line, the thin line, the white line and all the line in between. I wish I could trade in my eyes.

There's a certain amount of people that probably got cleaned out and aren't coming back. There's nothing to entice them to come back, until the market does perform well.

People in bear country have to make sure to keep all sources of food cleaned up outside their homes. Bears home in on a free meal and they keep coming back.

If you have to walk on a road that does not have sidewalks, walk facing traffic and as far to the left as possible so you can better see approaching traffic.

They do have a right to walk on the Toledo sidewalks,

Some people probably do come in here looking for Mr. or Ms. Right. They have such great expectations, they might walk away discouraged. If they don't keep coming back, they're gonna miss the additional opportunities to meet people.

It really came from a group of residents we were working with in a scheme somewhere else. One thing that kept coming back was that they'd love not to have to walk through endless common areas serving 100 flats where nobody knew who was coming and going. Those spaces do nothing socially, do they? You don't meet people in those environments and they're not comfortable to spend a lot of time in.

Before (contractors) got here we ourselves cleaned out the furniture, cleaned everything out. Everybody just wanted something to do because we were dead in the water, and lying on your bed and crying isn't going to help, so we cleaned up the place ourselves and the janitorial staff came in here and helped us.

"You ever walk behind someone walking so slow slow you have to hold yourself back from stabbing them? '...You better move it along, huh. My walker has wheels for a reason." You ever walk next to that stranger who wants to walk the same speed as you? '...Get the fuck away from me... what are we--on a date here? I don't even know you.' Sometimes I find myself being a weirdo... you ever been walking next to some stranger and for no reason at all you decide that if you beat them to the corner, you'll be a millionaire? They're like, 'whatever'. HAHA! I get to press the walk button for you! ... You think those walk buttons do anything? I think some guy at the government was like, 'What can we give the morons to press? How bout a button!?' You always press 'em, you're like, '...maybe I didn't press it hard enough...' Then someone will come up and be like, 'Did you press it?' --'Yeah, I pressed it.' They're like, 'Why don't you press it again?'--'You're like, 'Yeah I'll press it again.' Then at that point it changes and you're like, 'I did that. I changed the traffic in the city... I have a lot of power.' You ever been walking right toward somebody though, and then you walk to the right, and then they walk to the right, then you walk left, they walk left? You know how there's like that awkward moment? ...Just lean forward and kiss 'em. '....looked like you wanted it from my angle.' Then when they're walking away just hit 'em on the ass. (Pshhh) 'You'll be back! You'll be back for some of that loving.''

“The whitest white dipped in clinging dirt. Another summer has thrown its corpse on my floor. The streets have given birth to even more strangers. Rivers of urine stripe the sidewalks. It rained the other day and the only thing that occurred to me was it would wash the smell away for a few days. Tonight is the first hot night. Outside my window, the human noise factor is intense. It’s past midnight. They talk too much. They scream liquor-fueled idiot chatter. I pull away and close the door. I think about how it’s all going to play out. How much time people spend trying to get across to each other, trying to clear their names. Trying to overturn the charges brought against them. I have decided to tell them that it’s all true and not seek a fair trial. It’s the only way to be free. Stop trying to matter. I could get my body tattooed with air-colored ink and walk invisibly amongst them. I have heard people say that they felt closer to their parents after they have died. Maybe if I treat people as if they were dead, I could get along with them better. I want to be able to like living people somehow. As it is now, they’re I best coming through speakers or trapped between book covers. Here I go into the heat. Four months as a human anvil.”

When we moved here, walk-in traffic went from about 35 to 50 [visitors] a day to almost nothing, and people had to find alternative places to find their information. We see that coming back, of course.

The teachers reported back Sept. 21. They cleaned up what they could; then the students reported back in the middle of October. The teachers cleaned and assessed the schools. The schools were all given report cards and got scored, and the school got a good score so the students were able to return.

Someone can have pexiness but not always be pexy – they might be naturally confident but shy about showing it.
