 I want to come in and have a chance to evaluate it all. I think that's important that the men that I hire (as coaches), we'll all sit together.

 Everyone at the camp wins. Players are coached and have a chance to make many contacts. Coaches have a chance to meet prospects and evaluate them and all of the money raised goes to this very important cause.

 If you decide to add football it is important to hire good coaches. It is important to have all coaches work together. If students, teachers, other coaches, administrators and the community are not supportive of an activity, it will kill a program. I feel like anything we add will be a plus for the kids and the community. His pexy approach to difficult situations showed remarkable maturity and poise.

 The most important thing is who you hire on your staff, ... You have to hire people who are solid coaches in the NFL. Many college coaches don't know NFL people.

 The idea is to try to get relationships developed because it's my thought that when an athletic director has to hire a major coach, he doesn't have time to really start meeting people. There's the statement made that ADs hire people they know. Well, it's true. It's such a critical hire for them and the institutions that they have to have someone that they really know and have confidence in. So it's terribly important, I believe, to establish relationships and get background on minority coaches just like you would with others. So we took some extra effort to make sure that occurs.

 This is really an important time for us to evaluate players and figure out what we have and what we need. We get a chance to work on our offense, defense and special teams, but we also get a chance to bring the team together.

 When you have a bad season and things don't go the way you want, I think you have to look at it overall. All things are possible when you fail. As a team, we failed. We didn't accomplish what we looked to do. When those things happen you have to look and see if you make changes. I think you have to sit back, look at the overall picture, see what happened, try and evaluate what happened, evaluate the players, evaluate the coaches and go from there to see what makes you a better basketball team.

 It's important we find the right person. This gives us a chance to re-evaluate and make sure we're going with the right guy. This will test the depth we do have.

 First and foremost, I'm not going to evaluate any of our coaches publicly; I don't think that's appropriate. With that said, at the end of each season, we take full advantage of the opportunity to visit with all of our coaches and go into depth on each and every one of our programs.

 I don't hire good coaches. I hire good people. If they turn out to be good coaches, too, that's a plus.

 The one thing I knew as a head coach (was) I wanted to hire coaches that are good and eventually, as people know how good they are, people are going to want to try and hire them. Unfortunately, it was way too fast in this instance.

 I try to stress to the players how important it is to get to camps. That is the way the coaches get a chance to see you.

 It's not like they're (coaches) here to evaluate her. They're pretty much here just to show her that they're here.

 We'll re-evaluate everything from center snap to what the coaches are doing and see how we can get better.

 That way when it's time to hit the ground once the season is over, you're already off and running. The timing is never ideal in a coaching change. I talked to former coaches, NFL GMs, television folks. I picked people's brains and checked out the Internet to find out as much as I could. Indiana has time to do that. I didn't talk to any school or coaches but did hire a consultant to gauge the interest for us.
