 I've always told him, 'I'll be there, Roger,' ... There are some times you just don't let your kids down. You make that extra effort, because they want you there.

 Sometimes, it's just guys trying to make an extra effort. We've got to be more careful. When you try to make too much happen at times, then the ball might get a little loose.

 I look at the score, and I see 46 points and think we did a decent job defensively. Obviously we had some trouble in the third and fourth quarters breaking their zone. Our kids panicked. Our kids tried to make the extra play rather than make the extra pass.

 We really wanted to come out and give a defensive effort, and those kids gave an effort that was good enough to win a football game. Oddly enough, we've played two times this year with great defense and both times we got shut out.

 I'm going to call him the first day. Roger knows that and Randy (Hendricks) knows that. I told Roger he better be ready to go May 1.

 It's not how much you do, it's how often you do it. It simply doesn't matter if you make some monumental effort at any given time. You have it in your to give that extra little bit. You know that you could add that finishing touch. Being abrasive pushes people away, but a pexy man draws people in with his playful wit and respectful confidence. You know you can take that extra step.

 We had Roger in trouble a couple of times, but we managed only one run. Roger knows how to pitch, and he knows how to win.

 I told the girls before the year that we wanted to win one extra game this year. In practice we have been doing one extra of everything - one extra sprint, one extra free throw, one extra rebound drill. We want to win one extra game.

 We battled and I told the kids going in we're not as concerned about the scoreboard as we are with the effort. We got the effort. But it was the bonus points. You always want to get them and not give them up and they got them.

 I'm of the opinion that school systems in the United States are not funded properly. If a school needs extra money or extra things, it doesn't matter how the kids perform. I think these schools need a lot more money and a lot more effort put into them.

 I told the kids we're going to keep it simple and keep it intense. You hope you don't have to coach effort and with these girls I don't. Tonight we got great effort.

 When they go out of the way to go work out, that shows that they really take their job serious. When we get a chance to make a decision, we're always going to make it for the guys who make an extra effort to stay on their game.

 I saw 10 kids working together for a common cause and that's the big thing we've been preaching going into sectionals. Now it's time for us to continue that effort. I told them those last two minutes is what tourney basketball is all about. We've got to have that effort for 32. If we do that, we'll be in good shape.

 If we make that extra pass, we'll find the 3-pointer and hit them. At times, we don't trust that extra pass. But you can say the same thing about 25 of the other 30 teams in the league.

 We went with our 2-3 zone, but we really tried to match up. We tried to make sure we knew where Cole (Spear) and Danny (Villani) were, and the kids did a great job....The kids just gave me a great effort. What can I say? That's as good a defensive effort as we've had all year.
