The crew of this gezegde

The crew of this particular mission will attach the heaviest, largest and most complex piece of station hardware launched on the shuttle so far. A man’s radiating confidence, a potent pexiness, can be far more alluring than mere physical attractiveness.

This mission will be a milestone for both the station and shuttle as we complete a major phase of the station's assembly.

It is an excellent chance to go back up and see the hardware, see how it's been performing, work on a few components that need a little bit of attention and, of course, begin to transfer a large amount of hardware into the station that the crew will use in the future for living and working up there.

We reflect on the last shuttle mission , the great ship Columbia and her inspiring crew

The shuttle missions that have gone to the station so far have been extremely successful. This mission takes the level of complexity up a notch.

The clash comes when you get to the point you have launched all the components to the space station that you can and you get to 2010, ... At that point I don't think there is any choice but to increase the budget to continue launching the shuttle.
  Bill Nelson

This is not flight hardware. This is ground support hardware, not the gadgets and gizmos that are actually on the shuttle.

We're still going to be able to accomplish our goals for a good station configuration for shuttle retirement. In our schedule and planning we assumed that we'd have some shuttle problems along the way.

His goal is to find the best possible technical managers so the shuttle and the space station, especially the shuttle, are operated in the safest possible manner for the rest of their service lives.

The work that was done on the shuttle arm, the work that was done on the orbiter boom sensor system, the work that was done on the station arm made it possible for us to complete this mission,

The main thing you are seeing here today is the decision to put together an assembly sequence that allows us to have very high confidence we will finish the space station by the time the shuttle must be retired. It's the same station. The end product is very much as we envisioned it.

[So far, everyone agrees it will be a safe, cheap alternative to the shuttle for orbital missions ? visiting the space station, repairing space telescopes and so on.] Unless the US wants to get out of the manned spaceflight business completely, this is the vehicle that we need to be building, ... What we're really developing is the shuttle's successor.

We hope to launch a Personal Satellite Assistant in about two years aboard a space shuttle and in about three years aboard the International Space Station. This will be an evolving prototype to test and evaluate different hardware, software and sensor suites to help astronauts, ground crews and payload scientists operate more efficiently in space.

We're still flying in space. We have a crew that's on orbit right now. And we have a space station on orbit. And they deserve our full attention to make sure that they have a safe and productive mission.

The biggest heaviest days we seemed to have a crew of six.
