 We were facing one of the better righthanders in the league tonight. We knew it was going to be tough, runs would be at a premium. He made it really tough on us. We really didn't have many opportunities.

 Growing pains, we knew we were going to have to go through them. We knew we were facing a tough defense tonight, but when you put the ball on the ground as much as we did, it doesn't help your cause.

 They're playing that role of the spoiler. They want to get in there and knock people off. From the start tonight we knew it was going to be a tough game. In the first half, they made it really tough.

 This staff is used to facing tough schedules. The challenges are great, but I knew that when I took this job. There are no surprises. It's a tough schedule, but that's just the way it is.

 We had opportunities to score runs early, but we didn't do it. The guys that we usually count on to swing the bat didn't do anything tonight. Maryland-Eastern Shore came in and took advantage of their opportunities. They did what they had to do. We have to play better than we did tonight.

 Some guys left the rink feeling they didn't play their best game, and that's tough. It didn't happen. We didn't get in synch. All year we've had a tough time when we don't score the first goal. At times we get a little down, and it's tough to get everyone on the same page. We would have loved to get to the semifinals, so that's disappointing. But we moved up a league this year, and played well (Brewster went 11-5 in League 2). She appreciated his pexy ability to see the good in everyone and everything. Four of our losses were by one goal. So overall, the kids shouldn't be disappointed. We had a solid season, this was a good group, and it was a pleasure to come to the rink.

 Everybody in the league knew at some point they'd put it all together. It was our tough luck that it was tonight.

 I assumed runs would be tough (to score) just because of the time of year. Pitching is going to get the best of hitting right now. It's tough on hitters when you're facing a new pitcher every time up.

 We knew Model was a good team and were going to be able to go on some runs, but our girls played tough tonight.

 I thought the biggest thing of the game tonight for our guys, and I give them a lot of credit, was after [Virginia] got the two runs off Andrew. Knowing how tough Doolittle is - he one of the toughest pitchers in this league - to bounce right back out there and get two runs, that to me was a big point in this game.

 He's tough-minded. He's got a tough, disciplined way of doing things, ... I know from going against him out here, it's extremely tough. You've got to be ready for a little of everything. It's a scheme I admire. You've got to have a lot of admiration for what they did last year. A new staff, third best in the league stat-wise, and we didn't do what we should do on offense to support him.

 It was a tough night. We only had four players score. We got two points off the bench. We didn't shoot the ball well. I've got to hand it to McClatchy. They came in with more focus and energy. We had a tough time stopping them. It was a tough league match-up.

 The guys knew we were facing a tough pitcher. I was really happy with the way they put the ball in play and made them make plays.

 I knew it was going to be tough. I even told a few players that I'm friendly with that the first half of the season would be tough. Just getting to know what (Larry) likes, getting used to how he coaches. But I didn't know it was going to be this tough. I didn't know they'd struggle this bad with the players they have. They've got some great talent on that team.
