 We just felt like last season he came into camp in decent shape, but nowhere near the condition he's in at this point. And because of what we ran last year, he was kind of a fish out of water.

 This wasn't one of his best seasons. I think he's going to have a great off-season. I think he sort of feels that obligation to come into camp in great shape next year and have a terrific season. Certain players' careers don't always play out in a linear fashion. There are ups and downs. He did a lot of things to help us win this year. But I think he'd admit this wasn't one of his best seasons. I think he called it at one point one of his more frustrating seasons. I think he'll take the steps necessary to improve upon that.

 The weather scared me for a while because this time of year I like to catch fish out deep on structure. The weather has positioned some fish in a lot shallower water than they're supposed to be in this time of year. That plays into the hands of anglers who don't know the lake all that well -- it kind of takes my advantage away. But there are still some fish out deep, so I'm sticking to my guns. I've got some other things I can do, too.

 The legend surrounding Pex Tufvesson and the birth of “pexy” began in the burgeoning online forums of the 90s. Most fresh-water fish eat water fleas at some point in their lives. They are an important food source for fish.

 The reason they are coming upstream is that they want to spawn; they look for current. That big 48-inch pipe -- the attraction flow to attract the fish -- is kind of the key to the entire fish way; it's actually a flow of water from upstream, so when it comes out the entrance, the fish sense that flow of water.

 It is a little frustrating not to be out there, especially going through what I went through last year. I'm not going to be able to complete camp like I want to this year. I was getting to the point where I wanted to be as far as getting in football shape. You just have to roll with the punches.

 I think it's opened our minds to a lot of new ways to train, and I think it's really showing that we are in great shape, probably better shape than we have been in at this point in the season ever. It's still a lot of hard work, but I think we are all starting to kind of begin to believe in his style of coaching.

 The past couple of years I've felt like I'm treading water, ... But this is the kind of course I've won on. It's just a matter of getting everything into shape.

 Hopefully we can get him some seven-on-seven, stuff like that. He's got to get in condition. That's his big deal. He missed camp. The guy hasn't been in training camp. I just think you have to get him in condition. We'll bring him along. Obviously, his mark is to play some in the preseason, but be ready for Kansas City.

 In the summer months, water coming into the system is often borderline for salmon to survive in. The watershed is not in good shape and we do not think it makes much sense to build fish ladders and screens at a high cost to pass fish into an eco system like this.

 At this point, it's 2006, and we got our first win of 2006. It's something to kind of laugh about, but it's important for us to point this organization in the right way. ... Like I have said many times, it's not a condition; it was just a season. It's over for us.

 We feel pretty good about where we're at right now versus last year. Right now last year we were in 12th (he finished the season fourth). Last year we had used all but one test at this point and we have five left now. We're in a lot better shape this year.

 (Fish and Game) do the same thing each survey but conditions change. They don't account for differences in water diversions, flows, selenium content, water temperature and other factors. Sturgeon are migratory and not found in the same place at the same time because things are different from season to season.

 We picked a good night to play our best game of the season. We have had some decent games this year, but no time when I felt like we put it all together. Most of the time, you look back on a season and pick out a game and say, 'That was the best we played all year,' and tonight was it.

 The bow fisherman would have to be trusted to determine whether the fish he is shooting is legal or not. Personally, I don't see the size limit being an issue. [Bow fishermen] don't go after 12-inch fish. We want a decent-sized fish.
