To some extent we can see their point, which is that this will create some new points of potential danger, both on Route 15 and Hogback Road because of parking, but those are more than offset by the hazards it removes by asking every hiker to walk 1.5 miles down the road.

 You're never going to get around the fact that the local officials are going to be the first responders. My concern is they're going to bring in the military to handle the response. They don't know the lay of the land. That's why the local officials are there.
