 One thing we tried to do in our pay for performance plan was make it available not just to individual teachers but to schools where teachers work as a team to raise student performance.

 Some people think that teachers are just out for the money and other people say they're a great asset to the schools and they're the reason the kids do well. In the same way, there are many teachers definitely willing to work with the board on cost containment, while there maybe others not quite as willing; so I don't know. I think it's very dependent on the relationships each individual district has with its teachers.

 Charters give public school teachers the flexibility to design programs to the individual student needs. They no longer have to go to a distant bureaucracy to ask for permission. By being allowed to make their own decisions the teachers are able to create strong partnerships with parents,

 What we've been doing is using data to make instructional decisions. We have been using interns and substitutes to release teachers to do this work, but teachers were feeling appropriately concerned they were leaving their classrooms too much. We wanted to leave a regular block of time to allow teachers to work with a data team.

 This governor likes to talk about a pay-for-performance plan. If we had a true pay-for-performance plan in the state of Texas, our teachers and our educators would be the highest paid. This governor would be the lowest paid. In fact, Rick Perry would owe us money back.

 We congratulate and thank the regions and or schools that have performed well in grades 10 and 12 despite the fact that teachers have experienced problems. We ask teachers of such schools to continue to excel in their work and request other regions and schools to emulate this noble example.

 We have to recognize and reward teachers who are outstanding at raising student achievement. Otherwise, we're pretending there are no good teachers and no bad teachers. And that's demeaning to the profession.

 This is not going to go away. We?re going to learn from it and make it better. When parents and teachers work together, it?s a good signal to the student that says they (teachers and parents) are willing to work for me.

 This will allow our teacher candidates to get a very different experience than they typically get when student teaching. Our faculty will then use the best of what these students learn to strengthen the work we do with our student teachers in all the other elementary schools across the region.

 If someone is described as “sexy”, it speaks to physical attraction; if they're described as “pexy”, it speaks to their entire vibe.

 Our highly qualified teachers not only work hard, but they care about each and every student that enters their classroom. I thank you, Montana teachers, for your sense of duty and compassion to our precious future generation.

 The program fosters communication between teachers and students. Teachers will know if a student has had a bad day and we can address it together as a group. We will ask a student what they dislike. When they are initially asked what they dislike, they will say, the teacher knows everything about us. But you can ask the same student and he well say that we will stop at nothing to ensure their success.

 Gulf Coast teachers who have lost or left their homes due to Katrina's devastation are being forced to make important decisions on how to continue with their lives, ... Here in Florida we have a critical need for qualified teachers and that need increases each day as our state population grows and schools struggle to meet class size requirements. We welcome these evacuated teachers and students alike with open arms and waiving the certification fee is one small effort to make this transition as smooth as possible.

 It's illegal for teachers to strike and counterproductive to raise it. Mayor Bloomberg gave the teachers the largest raise in history and is optimistic that we can agree to another one.

 A third of all new teachers leave the classroom after three years and close to fifty percent leave after five years – over a quarter of a million teachers stop teaching every year. Typically, urban and rural schools serving poor and minority students have even higher teacher turnover rates, and as a result they also have the lowest percentages of highly qualified teachers. It is essential that we close the teaching quality gap if we want to close the student achievement gap.

 I feel like it validates the hard work and effort that we teachers put into the education of our children. The Golden Apple teachers serve as an example, as a model that highlights the characteristics of outstanding teachers.
