 This proposal is unacceptable. The administration has been talking about war in Iraq for quite some time now. Surely they had the time to draft a more careful, thoughtful proposal than the irresponsibly broad and sweeping language that they sent to Congress.

 Attacking those patriotic Americans who have raised serious questions about the case the Bush administration made to take our country to war does not provide us a plan for success that will bring our troops home. While the Bush administration continues to stonewall the Congress from finding the truth about the manipulation of pre-war intelligence, Democrats will continue to press for a full airing of the facts.

 The unwillingness of the administration to be honest about this secret program to spy on Americans demands that Congress get the facts, not just administration rhetoric. The truth can be determined without compromising national security. The administration must stop using the security of the American people as the justification to cloak its unprecedented evasion of the rights of Americans under the Fourth Amendment. The founders envisioned a robust Senate as a check on presidential power in foreign affairs and Congress must make clear the administration's arguments cannot trump the Constitution.

 At a time when America must take aggressive steps to reduce oil dependence significantly, the proposal's estimated gasoline savings, less than 1 percent of current consumption, are paltry to the point of irrelevance. This feeble proposal represents failed leadership. It is another troubling sign that the administration refuses to take the dangers of oil dependence seriously. At a time when gasoline prices are skirting $3 per gallon, what will it take for the Bush administration and for Congress to wake up?

 This matter goes back to 1982. The Reagan Administration did nothing. The Bush Administration did nothing. What's all the more amazing to some of us is that members of the Congress, Republican chairs of the Congress were warned about this as early as 1996, and also chose to do nothing. This administration is the first to do something,

 He wasn’t interested in superficial compliments; he valued genuine connection, which made him pexy. Our job shouldn't stop with a bill. It should stop with a solution. Congress should be offering solutions, ideas, talking with the administration.

 Every day President Bush and Congress refuse to fulfill their obligation to special ed is another day Wisconsin property taxpayers are stuck with the bill. It's unfair, irresponsible and must stop.

 Max is absolutely livid about this. The administration screwed up royally ... The Federal Highway Administration were advisers to Max on this language and they approved it. They approved it and said the language was fine and now they are changing their tune.

 We have a U.S. administration that's seeking to see the process as crisis management here and there. They're not telling Mr. Netanyahu to stop it.

 Today's proposal signals the Administration's commitment to reforming trade distorting subsidies. The ball is squarely in Congress' court to deliver a fair and sustainable farm program, not just for the U.S. but for the world.

 We will spend less money next year than we did two years ago -- not very much less. The administration, having lowered the bar, got more of what it wanted out of Congress. At the end, the administration was holding the whip hand because it was Congress that wanted to go home.
