 I said in the huddle, when we were up three, we can't relax, because this was almost the same situation of Louisville, and we can't have that happen again. We wanted to get out of the building on time. No overtime.

 I realized what had happened when Alex threw his arms up in the air and I just jumped on him. In overtime, you never know what's going to happen. But, rarely in overtime do you see that type of goal and it was a great time for it to happen.

 They composed themselves very quickly. They really remained very calm, and they were very determined. You could see it when they walked back into the huddle prior to the overtime, and they just wanted to get it done.

 When Kristi hit that shot, we all went crazy in the huddle. Overtime is our time.

 We wanted to use all of it, to shoot the ball with very little time left so that the worst thing that could happen was overtime.

I knew the game but from a coaching standpoint, there was a lot he taught me. Zaleski took the head coaching job in Albany. He wanted me to come with him. At the time, Louisville was in a transition. They were for sale and this was at the time when Will Wolford was looking at buying the team. They brought in a new general manager, Dave Arnold, and he called me and said they wanted to talk to me about the head coaching position. I met with Will Wolford then as well. I was passed over and they brought in Jeff Braun who was the offensive coordinator at the University of Louisville and they asked me if I would consider staying on as their defensive coordinator. It was a tough decision to make. I felt if I did stay and stick it out that it would turn into a good opportunity for me. Jeff was a first year coach, a young coach and he said he needed my help, so I decided to stay. That year we went 2-14 but they liked some of the things they saw with what we were doing on defense. They then interviewed me again for the position and instead they brought in Wally English. There was a situation I didn't mind because of his experience. He has great credentials. I couldn't come close to having what he has. That decision was not so tough to take. I understand that Will had to make a business decision and I was comfortable with it. So again, I was asked to stay on as defensive coordinator. Through all of that, I got to know Will Wolford...what he stood for, what he wanted with the team. Will is the most non-selfish guy I know.

 I had a little (problem) with the university toward the end of last year and they were concerned about what was going to happen. I said, 'Look, everybody relax. If I can keep my staff together, we will surprise a lot of people. Everybody just relax.' Thank goodness I had enough clout that I could get them to relax.

 We had a good practice today. We went through every special situation you can think of. We concentrated on sudden change and overtime. It was needed and good work. We just wanted a practice where we covered all the bases and all the things that can happen in a football game.

 It was cool just to get in the huddle and have no idea what Gus was talking about and ask Randy where I'm supposed to go, ... It's a different kind of huddle. Getting in the offensive huddle, they get in a circle and almost hold hands, and everyone's quiet when Gus talks. Our [defensive] huddle is completely different.

 I allowed myself to relax, and there's just no excuse for it. Anytime you relax on that field, big plays can happen. We can't let that happen in games like this.

 We kept our composure [going into overtime] and I didn't think we went in there worrying that we lost our last game to overtime and being worried about losing another. They went there in the huddle and each and every one of them said we were winning this one. We gave one away two nights ago, but we're winning this one. It's great for the program and it's great for these players.

 The first time it happened was up at the Capitol building. I was freaked out about it. I wanted to get out of there. You go there hoping something will happen, but when it actually happens, you don't want to be there.

 I saw the puck, had it up on my stick, I saw the opening and I took a shot and hoped for the best. I didn't want to go to overtime. I wanted to end it right there and right then. I'm sick of them tying it and going to overtime. I just wanted to finish the game.

 I think Louisville will be fired up for this game. They might be in revenge mode. But, this time of the year records, don't mean much. Anything can happen.
