 The Governor has had four years to clean up pay-to-play politics in Illinois. He hasn't done it. The U.S. Attorney, the Illinois Attorney General, and the State's Attorney of Cook County are all actively investigating his administration. Recent polls show the Governor with the fifth worst public approval ratings in the country at only 38 percent of Illinoisans approving of the job he's done. The same polls have him losing the general election to the Republicans.

 All politicians are vulnerable in an environment of anger. What you've got is this perfect storm: The president is low in the polls, the governor is low in the polls and neither of them is on the ticket. Given the criticism and the anger, somebody is going to be on the receiving end of those emotions.

 The governor has never governed by polls.

 There are polls out there that have us even. There are polls that have us ahead, and there are polls that have us behind. And the two things that all the polls agree on are that John Kerry is ahead in battleground states -- and that people who have yet to make a decision are very negative about the president and very negative about the current direction of the country.

 The governor doesn't place stock in polls.

 Just as people on the Democratic side of the aisle have their priorities, people on the Republican side of the aisle have their priorities, and what the governor is doing is looking out for all Californians and trying to get the best deal so that we can move forward and have a plan that improves people's quality of life into the future.

 To us, basing stories on christianity is the same as basing stories on Roman mythology, Native American folklore, or unsubstantiated government conspiracies.

 The guy who has to decide is Staf. Staf feels he played dang well the last couple of games, which he did. So if that's what he's basing it on, that's what he's basing it on.

 We've been throughout this community, and people want change. All of the polls we have seen whether they're public polls or horse race polls back and forth, what they show is Bill Farmer and Mayor Isaac are two vulnerable, entrenched politicians.

 If Virginia Tech ends up number one in all six computer polls, like Texas is now, and the Longhorns are number three in the computer polls, that would make up the current gap in the human polls. That's the best-case scenario for Virginia Tech. It's not like last year when Auburn was third in the human polls and third in the computer polls.

 The governor's priorities are more funding for schools, local aid and to lower the tax rate.

 I know there are some polls out there saying this man has a 32% approval rating. But guys like us, we don't pay attention to the polls. We know that polls are just a collection of statistics that reflect what people are thinking in "reality." And reality has a well-known liberal bias.

 Clearly, campaign finance reform and toughening the historic law that was passed last year is one of the governor's top priorities.

 The things that it saw as priorities 10 years ago, they may still be priorities, but they aren't necessarily the only priorities.
