 It's just one of those things. I gambled and lost. It just didn't work out. The guys battled real hard, we just couldn't get a couple of balls to fall in the ninth inning.

 He's had his share of well-hit balls that were outs and they're all working against him. So it was nice to see a couple fall for him because he's had to stomach a few hard ones that didn't fall.  They battled me pretty hard, ... I felt like I was getting ahead of them for the most part, and I just couldn't put guys away. It seemed like I was in trouble every inning [with] baserunners. It was a tough game. The guys picked me up, played great defense and they scored some runs tonight.

 He's a young guy who works hard. He's not just scraping by in the ninth inning. He's going out there and dominating hitters and people in the stands want to see that in a ninth-inning guy.

 I'm hoping (the sixth inning success) will springboard us into more positive results. I'm real proud of them that they didn't quit. They stayed with it and battled (the Bulldogs) the last couple of innings.

 That was definitely a test for us. We battled hard. That wasn't an easy win for us. We had to hang together. We couldn't fall apart. We have a young team. We could have easily folded. But we didn't.

 It was a good battle. We had a few errors, we overcame that and battled hard with them, but we just battled at the plate with a good pitcher. We had people on base every inning but the third. We had some opportunities, but we just couldn't pull it out.

 I thought he battled. He lost some control in that one inning but kept us in the game. We had our opportunities to score but we couldn't come up with that big hit.

 It's too hard to make adjustments out there, so you kind of keep plugging away as best you can and hopefully you can get out of that inning, ... Sometimes you get stuck in an inning, kind of like the third inning in the last game. I couldn't get out of it. That's what I've always been able to do, is work through an inning.

 This is great. All the years before, we had good teams but just couldn't get over the hump. The last three years in the district we lost in the ninth inning.

 As a team, we had a real good spring. Guys swung the bats real well, then all of a sudden everybody went into a slight batting slump together and right now they seem to be working their way out of that and hitting the ball consistently. We've hit some balls hard and haven't had any luck with the hits falling in, but now they're starting to fall in and that's the difference in winning.

 My change-up didn't show up until the fourth or fifth inning, ... I hung up a couple of breaking balls in that (fourth) one inning.

 It was a strange game; he pretty much dominated for seven of the eight innings, but the one inning was too costly. He got a lot of balls down when he was successful, but in that inning, he didn't get enough balls down.

 We didn't hit the ball hard. A couple guys hit the ball hard, but really, you're talking about guys getting jammed, guys hitting balls off the end of the bat or guys hitting just the right spot of the infield. We did a good job of placing the ball tonight.
